You kinda are when you're paying for MMOs...your monthly fee pays for content in the game and server maintenance, both which are costly for this type of game. Otherwise, why would there be a point in paying monthly in an MMO?
You're a good man Lion.
People keep saying this, that in order for SE to continue working on this project we need to pay the monthly fees and that's rubbish. SE needs to turn to their investors or use capital generated by their other projects if they want to turn this thing around or consider the money they've already spent as sunk costs and just give up.
And for me the PS3 release date being so far away is the main reason I'm reluctant about making payments now. The PS3 release is the only time where we will see a significant increase in the player base and that's really what this game needs is more people playing.
If that's true, then why isn't Blizzard turning to their investors to fund WoW? Why are the players paying monthly then? You might say, well they want more money and they being greedy...yeah...that may be true...but S-E isn't poor either. How much money did S-E put in this past year to keep this game alive? You don't think it was a huge sink for them? Us not paying monthly for an MMO that requires a lot of resources?People keep saying this, that in order for SE to continue working on this project we need to pay the monthly fees and that's rubbish. You see where I'm getting at?

They did, for an entire year. At some point a project has to start standing on its own or you have to put it down. Get it? No? Oh well, don't really care.
Right so if they aren't able to call FFXIV a quality product at this point and it's only hope for survival is to ask the small player base that already paid for a product that wasn't ready be sold for more money then they should put it down. And so what if they used their own money this year? The game needed more time in development before it was released if they had held back on releasing they would still have add to use their own money.
Punctuation is your friend. I had to reread what you said like 5 times.Right so if they aren't able to call FFXIV a quality product at this point and it's only hope for survival is to ask the small player base that already paid for a product that wasn't ready be sold for more money then they should put it down. They are calling it a quality product, which is why they're going to charge. That you don't think it's a quality product is irrelevant.
Because Blizzard released a product that their customers are happy with and willing to pay a monthly fee. And those fees are used to cover their costs and are used to create more content which they can sell and make more profits. If that's true, then why isn't Blizzard turning to their investors to fund WoW? SE released a game that most players were not happy with and admitted that it wasn't a quality product. They released the game anyway and now a year later they still say it's not worthy of the brand name but want us to start paying for it. They don't want to invest anymore of their money into FFXIV because they lack confidence that the game with make a profit for them so they want to use our money instead. That's wrong.
Then why did the producer say just a couple of weeks ago that it wasn't worthy of the Final Fantasy name yet?
