I think that's the most important part. They said that a large part of this content won't be accessible anymore in 2.0."Why pay for an incomplete game with no content till 2.0?"
This is what really gets me and either people don't know how to read, they read it wrong, or they just complain just because. Believe it or not there is a ton of content planned from post-1.19 to post-1.23. By 1.23 we will have:
-Moogle Primal Battle
-Garuda Primal Battle
-Hamlet Defense for PvE
-The job system
-Two instanced raids
-Garlean Empire battles
-The Twelve content
-Garlean Legatus Battle
-Massive changes such as PC search, The Market Wards adjustments, Private Rooms, gear for your Personal Chocobo, and the Critical World Changes (the planned "New Eorzea")
And all of this is during the 11-month billing cycle. That's quite alot considering that the dev team has to work on 2.0 on top of all this content.
Then it means that all this content they are developing is actually almost exclusively for the current player base. And they do that to satisfy their current loyal fanbase instead of shutting down the servers until 2.0 release and dispatching their entire team to the development of 2.0.
I think it's fair to provide, to people who enjoy the game in its current state, the option to continue playing, but this option has a cost.
Not to mention you paid for those 2 years of XI content.
At least with XIV you got one of those years free and still got to see the game develop.
Very well put together and written OP. Too bad it was drowned out by pretentious douchebags who's only means of functioning is asserting their thoughts and beliefs over everyone else's. But one question, how do we know that new areas will be released before 2.0? I thought new areas were under the new client...which IS 2.0.

lol as I said in my post...people didn't read the roadmaps well...not trying to be mean to you but you didn't know the new areas are actually pre-2.0, not in 2.0.Very well put together and written OP. I agree on what the OP is saying, is exactly what YoshiP and SE said'ed.
i didnt want to pay at first, but when i felt that they might stop FFXIV, i decided to pay, and that's the only reason.
you dont pay for something that is going to happen in the future, its like buying fish in the sea, you pay for what you see and like.
upcoming patches could be canceled or you might dislike them.
You kinda are when you're paying for MMOs...your monthly fee pays for content in the game and server maintenance, both which are costly for this type of game. Otherwise, why would there be a point in paying monthly in an MMO?
People keep saying this, that in order for SE to continue working on this project we need to pay the monthly fees and that's rubbish. SE needs to turn to their investors or use capital generated by their other projects if they want to turn this thing around or consider the money they've already spent as sunk costs and just give up.
And for me the PS3 release date being so far away is the main reason I'm reluctant about making payments now. The PS3 release is the only time where we will see a significant increase in the player base and that's really what this game needs is more people playing.
