There've been a bunch of interviews where Yoshi has expanded upon what it says in the document.Despite all of the replies. I think everyone is mainly freaking out because they don't have that mentality to know what is going to happen between now and the release of 2.0, and perhaps beyond that.
We haven't heard much of anything or read anything new since the 14th, and people here are left with a blank state of mind, wondering wtf is going on now.
You confuse me MrLion. You troll the crap out of one thread then make a well-thought original post in another. Do you have a younger brother that sneaks onto your computer or something?
I think maybe you confused me with just another crying ungrateful wretch.
In any case, I agree 100% with the OP. To put it simply; Don't like it? Don't pay, stfu and get out.
People are assuming that the existence of 2.0 is basically proof that the game we're currently playing isn't going anywhere and 2.0 will literally change every piece of the game when it hits. "Why bother paying for a half-finished game?"
But really, what is version 2.0?
The visuals in that concept screen? The game can already pump out those pretty graphics. The new graphics engine is basically just letting them do more with less.
The jobs in that concept screen? Those are coming out in patch 1.21.
The 2.0 content we're seeing in the design documents such as PvP arenas? Well I'll give you that, but we're going to be seeing plenty of content coming in the next few patches including exclusive story elements that won't be in 2.0.
Aside from the new UIs, server code, and area redesigns, 2.0 isn't as insanely drastic a departure from what we currently have as many people might think.
There was never a golden, magic, or miracle patch. Major changes were happening and players were excited, the cynics went ahead and interpreted them as miracle solve all updates and that's never what they were. Most of us with brain cells have always known this would be a progression involving MANY patches.
Thanks to OP for clearing all that up. It's an ongoing thing and while I've had my doubts about the direction of the game the 2.0 pdfs have pretty much dispelled all that.
MrLion, I like you very much for this thread.

2.0= Golden patch
As they put Final Fantasy XIV in gold Lettering =)
new UI/way better server structure, new world, new graphics, being able to add BASIC mmo functions like a mail system. The things they can do with 2.0 alone is massive so....seems like a pretty damn drastic set of changes to me.People are assuming that the existence of 2.0 is basically proof that the game we're currently playing isn't going anywhere and 2.0 will literally change every piece of the game when it hits. the main reason im waiting til 2.0 to pay? well the lack of things to do, especially endgame. Most of what we have now is either been completed VERY quickly or made useless by things like the materia system...noone wants to do stuff like NMs for their drops when you can get a materia slotted equip thats way less of a pain (same can go for most of Darkhold and in cases Ifrit)
aside from those few things, there isnt much to do. Lots of the cooler stuff like crystal tower, PVP, alliance content, summoning primals, raising our chocobos to fight, new classes (not jobs), Personal housing, personal companys and its housing and events, Ishguard in general, are all being held back until 2.0.
people will blow through what we are getting each patch because the team is not soley focused on what we have now and again stuff needs to be held back because only 2.0 can handle it.
so not a drastic departure....100% false.
