Yeah I feel like we have less content on 3.0 release compared to 2.X.
Even if you stopped playing at the start of 2.0, you can do 2 years worth of content and catch up to 3.X in a month or less.
It feels like the rate that we get content is less than the rate that we lose content.

Since SE has no intention of making content last long, the way to play is to sub in the first month of patch then unsub until the next major patch. Any subscription time after that is to socialise.
I remember that in an interview, the question of playing other (online) games when there was nothing to do was brought up and Yoshi was asked for his opinion. He basically said yeah go do it.
    This is their business model.

That might have been the case pre-3.15 when they started holding accounts for ransom via player housing.

There was a reasonable drought of content in the months leading up to HW. HW then turned out fantastically, but... If you're gonna take 5 months to release a content update immediately after an expansion is released, you need to make sure that it's substantial. 3.1 failed in that respect, considering Diadem petered out from hotfixes and Lords of Vermilion was niche content dead on arrival. Savage may have been 3.05 content, but it still didn't thrill the majority of the playerbase. 3.1's story offered no dungeon or instanced fight outside of an albeit neat solo battle using currently existing content. 3.2 sounds to fix this with Sephirot and Antitower, but 3.1 definitely disappointed a substantial sect of the playerbase.

I have hopes for 3.2. Though, I don't expect it to be as good as any of the 2.x content patches. The development team is lacking members. I'm very disappointed that we are still only getting 2 new dungeons in the 3.x content patches, as opposed to the 3 we had in each of the 2.x patches. That alone shows a drop in quality. I think that the development team is contributing as much as they can, but SE needs to hire more employees to the division. This is a trend that needs to be adjusted, but I think they'll just continue with their current setup of bringing in employees from other teams when development is halted or beginning to slow.

Quite simply, XIV deserves more, and I don't think the higher ups in SE are willing to allocate enough hires to the project, despite the cash cow XIV has become. It's very shocking.

This is how I pretty much feels. The game desveres more, but the fact they cash in so much it is indeed shocking they dont use more money into this game. I want more to do! Different things to do and I want everyone included, players like me (raiders) including people who don't raid as often, but can do some medicore content which can be a ''easy' raid and have a lot of fun and somewhat cool rewards! . But we have to be realistic, this wont happen for quite some time, I think most of us know where they money is going to, other games, ff15(really hope it's not going to be a turn flop or SE is really going to lose it).

Simply put; it's easier to be negative, than it is to be positive. for every 10 things that are good in a game, people will pick that 1 thing that is bad and focus on that instead. Yes, there's less initial content to do, but there's been more overall, they've released a wider variety instead, heck even this post i'm writing right now can easily be construed as "negative". I think the game ultimately is in a.... strange place. What the devs want, and what us players want are vastly different atm, and it's going to take time for us to all come back together, it's not necessarily bad just.... awkward

I thought with HW they would change things up more. The story is fine, and I enjoy them taking a closer look at each NPC. However, cutscenes still remain utterly boring. The camera during certain scenes are still too stagnant and unimpressive. Then, we have a lot of *here's my hand* & [nodding intensifies] for our player interaction. The Idle-shire setup with Rowena taking over, and dungeon+tomestone grind is pretty much the same as 2.x, but I suppose that's to be expected. They did create another avenue to obtain different gear (the diadem), but even they admitted they went overboard with that, and it's going to be changed(?).

What I really hope to see in 3.x are better cutscenes, some bosses that are more like the Stone Vigil(hard) final encounter, and less linear dungeons. I enjoy the boss mechanics they've thought up, but the in-between is still just trash pulls. Break the mold, please.

Diadem was cool at release. At least many people on my server did it. It slowed down when SE made some tweaks to the loot (since the change, and even after running Diadem Hard a minimum of twice a day every day, I have yet to see NIN chest drop, so my last three runs have been on BRD, and still haven't seen NIN chest drop). In one Diadem Hard run, it was epic. 4 groups, killing quick. We've got about 9 Gold chests, all chests dropped Tank earring. So now, most of use just go for the Eso pieces and use Hunts and Void Ark to upgrade to 210.

As for Lov, I have yet to try it, so I cannot comment.

With Gordias Savage, I'm seeing an increase in group formations now. Most of the people said it's because they want the 210 items there instead of farming Diadem.

I wish the HW dungeons (Dusk Vigil to Library) would do something for Lv60 players. When I do my Leveling Roulette and get "The Aery", I feel drought because it's a pointless dungeon for me besides getting gil from the trash and vendoring the gear.

HW had a rather weak start for me, which only agitates the content fatigue that bridged 3.07 to 3.1 ( which in itself has relatively less palatable content) and 3.15 (which is small even for a mid patch).

A reason why you see so many of these sort of discussions is that there's no way to get player input if they don't have an active game time, at least not on a place where it can be seen or received by developers. And even if we were to go with ( it's only the vocal group that complains), well we certainly got a lot more of them during 3.0, and most of them from what I've seen were playing since 2.x. It alongside other factors speaks in spades to the current state of the game and shouldn't be so easily dismissed.
