GameWatch - Job Summoner where you can summon spirits will also be implemented?
YoshiP - We will eventually implement. Pet users are star in MMORPG class. For example carbuncle is a summon a summner can call however “Ifrit” or “Garuda” or “Leviathan” or “Odin” are gods.

? and that they are still gods in 2.0. tells us that they stick to the story at this point. and thats the point why the summoner class seems not to summon them on their own.. it needs a group of player of a free company.. which i think is... bleh? ;D weird.

    There will be:

    a) A class/job that can summon pets/primals -confirmed
    b) Free companies that defeat primals will be able to summon them via a card system. -confirmed

It is implied that the card is a one time use and will have to be farmed from said primal. My guesstimate is that it will have a -% drop rate.

The idea of having primal summoning is impressive on its own, no matter how many people it requires to do. That it's going to directly affect weather in Eorzea is even more exciting. Wherever you are in the world, you'll know someone somewhere has just unleashed Ifrit on some poor unsuspecting soul.

To me, it makes perfect sense to differentiate between primals and summons that can be called by a Summoner class. Whatever spirits they ultimately add to the game, I hope there's a few familiar faces in there so we can still feel at home with the job. Remember, while Carbuncle was mentioned Yoshi did insist that that was only an example and not necessarily reflective of the final release. Carby might make an appearance, but we're equally as likely to see another summon take its place.

Regardless, promoting teamwork with the primal summons is the right move in my opinion. Those primal summons are going to be awesome!

Really, it's as simple as splitting them like XI did between Terrestrial and Celestial avatars. Celestial would be Free Company summons, Terrestrial would be summoner job summons.

Ifrit, Ramuh, Shiva, Leviathan, Garuda = Free Compnay

Sylph, Remora, Siren, Lakshmi, Kujata = Summoner

    (These are just examples.)

There are so many different summons in the FF universe, you could easily split them up between Gods and Summons and still have a whole pool of them left over to choose from for future content.

Also, a minor thought I had would be summons for the advanced jobs.

    Alexander for Paladin
    Hades for Black Mage
    Bahamut for Dragoon

This is really unrealistic and the chances of such a thing happening are nil, but it seemed like an interesting concept to me.
