i personally think its a bad thing theyre not telling us in advance. its the one thing keeping me from taking CON/THM past 20, i dont want to level the WHM...BUT I DUNNO WHICH ONE IT IS!

im 99% sure CON is BLM but id kick myself in the ass if SE pulled and SE on us it went the other way around since everything is very much being overhauled.

also, i wonder if theyre going to change any of the primals during the overhaul, Ifrit is pretty big to be a summon. that leviathin in the concept screens is obviously an overhaul.

I'm 99% sure CON is whm and THM is BLM just from having a look at their promoted equipment. While I realize CON also have the main nuking abilities right now, I believe that will be changed in the patch. They also have the strongest healing spells at this time so..

As is right now, THM is an over-time effects class and CON is the nuker, both in terms of heals and damage. I think that's the major thing that will be changed - they'll rather focus offensive on THM and defensive on CON. Of course, this is all speculation, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Even as it is right now, most parties I'm in have THM as nuker and CON as healer. I very rarely see CONs using offensive spells, and from my own time on CON they're not as effective as THM damaging spells. I'd be very surprised if it wasn't CON=WHM and THM=BLM. That said, I think they should have just said it outright so people can level the class of their choice, knowing in advance what job and party role it will have in the future.

As far as the interview itself, awesome work, especially on getting info about the new engine. I can't wait for that to come out.

Ya I definitely feel CNJ is losing its nukes. And THM is losing its healing. IDK but CNJ has always felt whitemage-y to me. And I'm sure its because it is the one with "Cure". THM has a much darker feel to it, having scourge and other things that sound dark. I'm not too worried, I plan to level them both.

OK the more I read this interview the more frustrated I get. I don't understand why he says, "We didn’t want to penalize that player by not giving them a chance at what they really want." But that's exactly what they are doing. When you get a item you didn't want at all, that is a penalty imo for spending your time going down there and defeating Ifrit.

"There was a lot of talk within the development team whether to look at the class and say OK if it’s this class then they only get this item or it doesn’t look at the class and gives the random item. "
Why wouldn't this work really? Why not have it check for what job your on when you enter, or just before it triggers loot. That way you can change to the job you want gear for, then change back to the needed job? I'll admit I haven't been to this fight yet, so I haven't seen the entire battle mechanics that go into play, but is there not room for you to be able to swap jobs during a "detect what job for loot" event, then change back or what not?

All they really need to do is change it to a system where you get a nontradable item. Say "chunk of Ifrit's horn." After you have enough of them you take them to an NPC who crafts the desired weapon for you. Everyone still gets a reward, it still takes time to get specifically the one you want and there's no way for someone who doesn't participate to get the item.

When I first heard the whole evil moogle battle was coming, I as pretty confused. I mean, moogle has appeared as a summon before, but it's goofy transition. But as soon as Yoshida-san mentioned the "thing that happened," I flashed back to Titan (Quake) and Leviathan (Tidal Wave) and I was just like... "Ah. Yeah. That would have been pretty bad form..."

Remember how bad people freaked out when Pokemon had Ground Zero in it? I'd imagine it'd be that x50 from their own society. Nonetheless, the moogle weapons look godsdamn adorable, so I want one.

I know there are already a metric f'kton of threads about Ifrit and his drop system, but I think a well written provocatively titled thread for recommending this fix would be a good idea, if for nothing other than to get some feedback.

Sephrick you mean like sea boss's in XI right? I really wouldnt mind that system at all. Thats a really great idea. Idk if the people crying "omg ffxi-2" would like it or not tho..
Anonymoose I think that is definitely a good idea.. Who wants to start it!?
