New player - question about servers/RP linkshells activity

I just got FFXIV the other day, but with the servers still offline I have not been into the game yet to create a character or choose a server.

Reading around it seems that Besaid is the "unofficial" RP server, is this still true?

I was also wondering if anyone offhand knew of any RP linkshells that are active currently, on Besaid or another server. I've read through a bunch of the linkshell lists that are nicely posted on the various server forums, but since I have not been in game myself I do not know how accurate they are currently. Or how active each linkshell may or may not be.

Hence my coming in and asking here on the forums of the people who have played in game any may know or have an idea of what RP shells are currently active.

The roleplaying community on Besaid is quite active. I would recommend checking out the FFXIV Role-Playing Coalition for a list of currently active RP linkshells. There is a list of currently active RP linkshells that is frequently pruned.

Also, let me recommend Sanctus Refero's RP linkshell. We have a large number of active members with frequent events. Good luck! ^-^

As Dreamer said, Besaid is the main RP server and Sanctus Refero is probably one of the more popular RP LSs. They have a separate RP LS as well for those who stay in-character more often.

Thank you for the replies and links, looks like I'll be heading to Besaid. That just leaves deciding if I want to roll a Miqo'te or Elezen. Might see you around Besaid once the servers are up
