    Need guidance on serveral things

    1. What's the best way to make gil? I sampled some gathering and crafting activities and the gil from leves are rather limited. My char is level 13-ish GLA and it seems I have way too few gil to buy all the equip for my level.

    2. How to get into a party? Nobody ever talks in /say, so I don't know how to get myself into a party with others, and possibly into a linkshell.

    3. Anything to do beside doing leves? As those are limited upon a certain period of time, I found myself not motivated to keep grinding on the crafting or enduring the combat lags... need something else to do. :<

    1. continue to do leves and behests until you get to around level 20, you don't really make any real money until then. just remember to save it all up and don't lash out on anything to pricey at the markets as prices are never constant and you can often find some gear pretty cheap.

    2. During behests, if you find someone that speaks English you can usually get into a convo with them and share some leves etc. I only really started making proper parties in the mid 20s. Also spend some time on your servers forums and ask around for a linkshell, once you're in a linkshell you're set.

    3. I know its hard with no real goal in mind at the moment but keep at it. If you are playing alone and doing the same thing over and over again you don't feel like you're getting anywhere. believe me, once you have made some friends it will be fine and everything gets a whole lot better!

    1) Crafting it by far the best way to make gill but it takes time to get there. Next best would be farming valuable items, followed by leves.

    2) Best way to get a party is get a linkshell and best way to do that is shout in Uldah. Most linkshells are in need of ppl, so getting into a linkshell should not be hard.

    3) Character building is about all you can do atm. So you have go into it as your preparing for what is to come. There are some bosses in Faction leves and World NMS at higher levels but that is basically endgame atm.

    Thanks for the replies.

The question now is what I should be saving my gil for. I went to market ward and saw npc selling lv10-ish armor stuff and currently I am aiming to buy those... Not sure if I can stand the crafting lol... The mini-game is OK but I personally can't stand doing it for too long as it makes me fall asleep :x I tend to sell everything I got from killing mobs to NPC... is this the right approach?

Another thing is getting seriously hindering is the lags. It took me over a second to switch between passive and active stance, and so do all the skills have similar delay between issuing command and seeing my character execute the skill. Of course the actions seem to be queued up, but it takes a lot of guess work to know which part of my skill chain I am about to use on enemy, etc. Strangely, I tested on the server with least people and the lags are still there; and of course I play other online games fine with my internet connection. Anyone have similar problems?

I'm in the same boat as you Ryuu. I started FFXIV at release, completely excited to play but quickly found myself disappointed and stopped. I recently came back and found myself having fun doing leves but once they run out I find myself bored. Attempting to do gathering or crafting tends to make me dozing off in my chair x.x

Behest is fun but only being able to do it once an hour really takes it out of the picture. I thought about joining a LS, from the couple replies here, it seems that is the best option. Makes me rather sad that you're pretty much forced to do other classes or professions to spend anymore time then a hour or two playing. =(

I have made several million gil just cutting down trees and selling the lumber (done from carpentry). Willow and Oak sell the best in my opinion.

To find suitable armor I use a site called Yellow Gremlin (http://ffxiv.yg.com/). I wouldnt get armor that is 5 ranks above your rank. If you do then you will not get all the stats that piece gives you, if you do get a higher ranking armor you only get a portion of those stats.

Selling all the drop you get from mobs is good...if you are not crafting. On that site I posted earlier there are recipes, it will tell you what you need and where to get them (they also tell you an estimated price to sell items in your bazaar). So if you are not willing to craft then sell'em I say.

As for lag...yes we all have that problem. It is not as bad as when I first started when the game was released.

What servers are you guys on? If you are on Trabia I would be happy to help and assist you. I could even invite you to our linkshell, we are always happy to help new players with our experienced members.

argh. Can't say I am fond of doing the collection minigame, but if it's easy money then I suppose it is worth trying. I searched on yellow Gremlin for "willow", and unfortunately it did not show me where exactly i can find the trees Also, do you sell the log to NPC of players to optimize income?

http://www.disciplesoftheland.com/Maps.aspx this is the site i use to find logs or other items, it is easy to use and understand. I started to sell logs when I first started playing the game in October (things are different now with stack sizes). After a few weeks I found that I ran out of room so I started to sell lumber (I did this to skill up my crp). So that being said, I now sell only lumber on my retainers. If there is a product that does not sell I take it to a NPC. What server are you on?

Thanks for the tip. Perhaps I'll try it out when the servers come up. My character is on Cornelia.
