    Crafting Expertise

I thought it might be neat if the crafting classes could have cultural expertise, for example Culinarian could learn to craft in primarily Ishgardian dishes, or Doman etc. Certain cultures would have more access to stat boosting specifics like Gridanian giving bonuses to nature resistance or Ul'dan dishes giving a bonus to earth or fire.

This could be used as an interesting "skin" feature as well, custom made mythril armor or weapons as an example, fashioned in Limsan design for the aspiring pirate.

Would probably be better for long term game play if you had to choose one or two specialties per craft instead of wide range access to all, as it would diminish the uniqueness of being a "Master Ishgardian Blacksmith".

These specialties could also include character perks as well such as improved accuracy for Gridanian bows, or increased spell speed when crafting Sharlayan tomes or grimoires, which could help players decide on what to choose based on their main class.

You realize the current specialist system is already widely hated, right?

CUL is the job I leveled to max before all jobs, you used a good example!

It's interesting, but my love for my favorite craft with limitation of specialized dishes/craftables would make me incredibly sad.

I do like the idea of using old crafted items and making new, and there are plenty of items which are only used on a single item which I want more use of it...

Example, Young Lily is from fishing retainer venture and has become cheap because it makes only a small bowl in your yard. If that small yard furniture can be recycled into an amazing pond with a wooden bridge and lilies flowers. ^^

It is a great idea, it increases the current paths to select in crafting, therefore adding more depth to the system. The largest draw back part to uniqueness is its impact to the economy and the cost of limiting supply.

It gets real risky on mid and small pop servers. Greg might do ok, given its very large pop, but mid and small severs might have it that so few or any go some routes, that these specialist items never even hit the markets.

Look what current specialist classes did for relic items, where the mark up is crazy high for a 1 star craft, at this point. Basically the mark up for a simple 1 star, which you can do with entry level end game gear, is similar to the mark up we saw shortly after 4 star release in ARR.

This, and a ton of crafters have beef with not being able to craft everything.

I think that having culturally based crafting items available (and not locked) is a good idea. But anything locked just results in weirdness with ults or people not being able to find FC members capable of X craft, or micro monopolies. None of which are "fun"

I would like the idea, from a lore perspective, as long as it works more like the master books, where you just have perform task X to unlock them. Anyone can unlock them as long as they have the crafting class at with sufficient skill to do it.

NO SPECIALIST GATING!!! Or, anything like that.
