    i Agree with OP, there are so many system issues that shouldnt be here anymore.

    Some stuff is QoL thats true......but as a raider(and since this was posted on reddit really recently), This is one of my major concerns with this game since launch

    This is one of the issues that used to make Titan HM hard.....and this is what feels really strange when playing overall. Youre not dodging the skill, youre dodging the red zone on the floor.

    I know this is a really deep engine/coding problem.....and fixing it would take alot of time, but this kind of issue seems sooooooooooooooooo outdated even for a game that re-launched on 2013.
    I really hope that they fix this server issue soon, its been almost 3 years now!

    I don't think this is an issue that needs to be fixed, it's how the game is purposefully designed. The AoE indicators are the attack, the animation is just fluff. If you had to dodge the animation instead of AoE indicators there would be no forewarning (so no time enough to dodge the attack) and no way to easily judge if you were or weren't in the range of the attack.

    I think it's intentional. You're dodging in respects to the cast bar, the area is just there to let you know but once the cast bar finishes, the server checks if you are in the area and if you are, it flags you for damage but it's only applied after the animation is done.

    Other single player Final Fantasy games are sort of similar. It shows the animation first, then the damage is applied.

    There are some things that they make exceptions for, I remember for Scylla in ST, the damage for Unholy would be applied before the animation which I thought was weird. There is no ground telegraph and it hits everyone though.

    It does actually have some weird interactions that can happen though. For instance, even if you are flagged for damage from an AOE you won't take damage if the mob casting it dies before the animation finishes even if you were supposed to take damage.
