I came back, and it's not. It seriously is not finished. Not even close.
The UI is still bad, the classes still suck, there is virtually no penalty for dying, and insta-travel still exists. There's no inclination to do anything other than for better gear. No quests for unlocking new abilities, no quests to open new areas. There's a mediocre conquest-like system in place. Gear maintenance without a point. MP recovery abilities without a point. No large-scale 18+ person group endgame content. No bard. Nothing special / Nothing unique.
Why waste my time on this MMO, when I can get the same thing out of WoW, Rift, EQ2, Warhammer, Age of Conan, etc., etc., ?
The answer is: Because I love the Final Fantasy series so much I won't realize how awful the game actually is. Thankfully, I know better.
Even looking at what's planned for 2.0, the game is not done, and I'm not paying for it. Before you guys flame this topic with one-liners like: "Another one of these?" - Take a moment to think instead: "Why so many of these?" Then if you're smart, it'll make sense to you.
Ciao.
