Holy **** I've grown tired of this stupid debate. I don't care anymore. The fact is what was supposed to be a thread over the keeping or removing of the current HQ+1/2/3 system ended up turning into a match of he said, she said. Don't give a **** anymore, Mariya. I don't need to prove to you what I seen with my own eyes, and I frankly don't care. If Origamikitsune posts a picture then maybe it'll help. Other then that, drop it. I want to get back to the original post.

Maybe the reason why I don't like it is because I liked it when it was the most simple. (FFXI) The only thing HQ meant when crafting the materials was that you'd get more of the materials. (Ash Log into Ash Plank. NQ: 3, HQ-1: 6, etc.) Seemed rather easy and simple. When it was gear, however, HQ meant better stats. Don't see what was wrong there.

Really I wouldn't mind a +1 & +2 feature for most of the gear. I don't know about you, but to me four different types of the same item just seem a waste of time to me. If you feel different, then tell me why. Don't stray from this topic.

So you want to scrap the system because you don't like it? Sounds very logical to me, never mind if other people like it or not.

HQ material = easier chance to HQ. Material can HQ into either more material or same amount of material of various quality.

HQ equipment = better stat. So you wouldn't mind +1/+2 but you absolutely hate +3? Again, sound very logical and reasonable to me. You don't like it, why do you want it removed? Just don't use it, problem solved.

But not to the other people. See here, it doesn't make sense to you, because all your reasons were: You don't like it. And in turn, the system has to follow your taste, don't care about other people. Why do I say that? Because you don't want a poll, you already made your intention very clear, anyone who disagree with you are instant moron.

Why don't I like HQ materials? Well I guess I feel if they change (Keyword: If) the quality problem into something more of what people think. (Example: 200 quality = quaranteed +1. Keep in mind that this number is fake.) To me, this seems rather odd to have in place ingredients that will guarantee a +1. Doesn't that just take the skill out of your craft? To me it does.

Why HQ +1 & +2 gear but not 3? Well I guess also I feel that if they change the current quality system, (Keyword: If) they would have to get rid of the HQ+3 ingredients since it'll put a serious crutch on the craft doing an HQ based solely on skill. Now why not a +3? To be perfectly honest why three? Can you tell me a reason why three sounds better than two? Because it does a 6% stat increase per +1? Why not a 9% stat increase? Doesn't three different versions of HQ seem like a gimmick? No? Can you tell me why it should stay?

I don't craft, but I would honestly prefer this method over a basic NQ or HQ method. It provides a sense of pride and accomplishment when you get +2 on a high piece of Gear, and although I didn't play FFXI long enough to even think about crafting, a basic system like that sounds like it would have a ton of HQ gear floating around. I could be wrong though.

The point is this system makes you work for your money by making you work for +2 items to sell. Wether Kimahri or Mariya are right, the point stands that the better your quality is, the better your chances at getting +1, +2 or +3 items. If Kimahri is right, and you can get +2 with 99 or less Quality, then it only proves that it is so unlikely to occur that it shouldn't be taken seriously into consideration that you can HQ at that Quality if you are legit trying for a +2 item. The chances are so unlikely, that no one even believes you when you say it happens.

No. If the gear was a low synthesis ingredient then yes it'd be easy to HQ. Fact is when you seen armor past level 50+ it started becoming less and less common and more into rarity. You never seen more than 2 of certain pieces of HQ equipment at any one time. Now I can't speak, though. I think they let FFXI go way too far which is why I left 3 years ago. But when I was playing, I never ever seen 3 Genie weskits going up for sale unless somebody was just selling theirs back into the economy. If you looked at the recently sold history, you'll maybe see a different 100+ crafter's name twice in a month.

Also I'd like to say that if you thought a whole lot of HQ gear was floating around with just the NQ & HQ system in FFXI, how would FFXIV look like since it has a lot more variety with HQ?

There is one thing you're totally right with and that's the point that better quality should lead to better HQ gear. And more skill should lead to better quality. (This one isn't really relative though. Everyone knows this. Just putting it in for cosmetics.) If you look back up this post and use the Genie Weskit again as a concept. This synth was more based on luck than skill. There were different theories on how you can equip what +crafting gear to make your chances of HQ go up, but it was minimal. Overall I think it was declared a 1-2% HQ chance? Some gear is just more based on luck.

Let's not go into further details though about my incident with a +2 item with less than 99 quality. I don't want anyone to cloud this thread again with this like was done before in previous posts.

well, i second the fact it can be done with less then 100 quality

granted its about as rare as rare can get, but i myself did an HQ3 on linen yarn with around 20 quality(and i was pissed when i did it cuz i was using the wrong tool)

Correct me if I am wrong, but can't Linen Yarn only HQ to +3? Or is that not considered a "Material"?

+1 Gear is commonplace, I'll admit that much, but +2 items, and for sure +3 items are not common occurances, especially not on High Ranking Synths. It is a big deal when someone makes a +2 Visored Barbut, for example. The thing I find interesting is that from the sounds of things, FFXI was just as random with HQ items as FFXIV, the only difference is they are only rare at +3, and uncommon at +2.

It is just a matter of preference. I like the HQ system in this game because it is like "Oh yeah? Tough guy has +1 plate? Take a look at my +2 plate!" Because the +3 gear is so rare, if you can get your hands on it, you know you'll have it for a long time. The FFXI is just...it's NQ or it is HQ. Maybe I just like the FFXIV system because it gives the illusion there is more gear than there really is...maybe that is why they did it this way in the first place?

Regaurdless, I would like to see the difference clearly noted between each item and its HQ counterpart. All this experimenting to figure out whether a +1 trumps a NQ and if its worth the price is annoying :x

That I think we can all agree to.

Ok so i guess your about to learn something new

if you use secondary tools as opposed to primary, you can get different HQ results

in the case of Yarn in specific, primary tools yield +1/+2/+3
Secondary tools yield more yarn instead (16/20/24)
