    Infuriating forum issue

    After playing FF14 for several hours I went on the forums and was greeted with that message.

    First off, why the would such a restriction even exist? My subscription has been active for months, surely I deserve to be allowed to post on the forums even if I haven't played for a couple of weeks?

    But more importantly, if you have a login restriction like this in place, the very least I expect is to be able to log on to the forums as soon as I log on to the game. But I didn't get access to the forums until a whole day later. Surely you can do better than this.

    That is 'working as intended' I'm afraid - players only have a limited amount of posts you can do on the forum each day, with the amount based on your in-game level. The official forum posting restrictions are listed here.

    As to why the forum has these restrictions, it is due to back during the later stages of the Beta Test when there was a mass influx of new players joining who, in their excitement and eagerness to start testing, flooded the (now shutdown) Beta Test forum with spam and flaming messages, which caused SE to implement similar posting restrictions there. Because of this, when ARR launched it's highly likely SE implemented similar restrictions to the official forum as well to ensure that nonsense was not repeated.

    Yes it can be an inconvenience but really, it's easy enough to deal with. Your particular issue due to not having posted for a while probably has similar causes - to stop people flaming the board with stupid "I'm back!" threads.

    Basically, it's SE's forum, they own it, they can make whatever rules they like.

    Did you miss the part where I'm level 60 and have played the game for hundreds of hours? I'm not a new player, and you're trying to make excuses for a "feature" that shouldn't exist. SE can set the rules they want, but that doesn't mean they should. Treating their users well should always be the top priority.

    Forum posting

    I'm glad I found this post and the link. I have been trying for days as a new player to figure out why I can't post even one question on the forums as a paying customer. The message on the forum is a generic one that is not helpful. It should at least give the link that was give about levels. I submitted this to support via email and the response was an automated one of check the on line help for game play. I don't think they even read the message.
    I understand limits, but as a new customer I had a few simply questions I could not find on-line, that could have saved me a lot of time and taken someone a minute to answer. When customers are starting they may be in the most need, but also the most simple of needs.
    At least let them post one message. There really is not reason to not at least allow that for a paying customer.
