Compromise: Just Charge $5 For Now. Once 2.0 is Out, Then Charge $12

If we were able to take FFXIV ver. 1.19a back in time and give it to SE to launch FFXIV. Would you back then feel the game was worthy of a standard sub fee?

So whats the difference starting a sub fee after 1.20?
We've been playing with our current content for free. Thats a big hurdle to get over I know. But it's one we have to overcome, better sooner than later.

Yea, like I said, I believe it's unfortunate that they've decided to do this, but I do hope maybe they'll re-consider, or possibly push Jobs earlier. I doubt either will happen, but without speaking up it definitely won't.

It's a lot better if you stop using the "dur dur 50% game lulz" argument.

You aren't paying for 2.0.
You're paying for 1.0 and it's associated content.

In patch 1.20, FFXIV v.1.0 will be at a launch standard, where you will be asked to pay just like any other MMO.

Then, you get a free trial period when 2.0 comes out, to decide if that's a game you'd be interested in continuing to subscribe to. THEN the payment cycle for 1.0 ends and 2.0 begins.

If you don't want to pay $12 for FFXIV v1.0, then don't. Go relax, play some other games, then come back in the free trial for FFXIV v2.0.

But quit asking for the fee for 1.0 to be lowered. There's no purpose for it. SE is going to advertise and pull all the stops at E3 for version 2.0. A handful of players who choose to leave because of a full price subscription isn't going to change their marketing plans for the 2.0 release.
