It's called.. Weeding out the people who don't care for the game.well it doesnt matter lol i mean i payed for ffxi cuz it was a great game despite the price and this one will be just as epic so i plan on paying for it too. i dunno how payment is for other games now tbh all i played was ffxi and this game recently lol. before that it was WoW and Dark Age of Camelot, but DAoC is the game i also enjoyed WoW was boring IMO.
i rly hope that we dont lose a huge amount of player base from this payment tho cuz i know a few ppl just dont want it and a lot of ppl have quit alrdy at least on my server lol.

almost every other mmo out there charges 15(and in some cases even more)
but your attitude is the one most will take
enjoy the game = play the game and pay for the game
i dont think we will lose more then 10% if that of the population with this change, purely cuz the majority of those not wanting to pay, werent even playing but for a few days here and there if even that, or were only checking in at patches.
they arent the ones who are on a daily basis enjoying the game as it is now, so they arent the ones who are going to make the most of it anyway

I guess my point is, before you all cry and rage at me all over again, is merely that SE are basically asking too much of people if they want them to invest in promises and hype from a company that has already let many people down already. It seems strange that SE have no compunction whatsoever about asking for players to repeat history all over again.
I think if you had asked people if they would charge before they had implemented jobs, most people would have said "lol no", but now it's like SE will try to rush and release an auction house so they can sell the game as having "all the bells and whistles of a modern MMO" so they can justify charging for it.
And yes, threads like this are so two weeks ago, and that's because people have just now started to adjust to the complete shock that they are charging despite the game not really being at the standard they assumed it would be at by the time SE started charging.
In principle you're being asked to pay for "What might come".
Drop the Charging thing already.. and just decide weather or not you want to pay for the game or not when the time comes. Now please just drop it Respectfully as I'm trying to do now.I guess my point is, before you all cry and rage at me all over again, is merely that SE are basically asking too much of people if they want them to invest in promises and hype from a company that has already let many people down already. heres the real deal, you shouldnt be investing in promises, only pay for the game if you enjoy it now. If not, theres no reason to stay, you can come back when/if it offers something you enjoy. I dont think anyone should pay other than if they want to play the game.
I think this is what yoshida is getting at, hes going to institute the fee, after the next patch, two months from now, if you like that patch and what the game is right now, then play. If not, he hopes you ll check on it with each update and see if you want to return.
You are in control of your own wallet, people should only pay if they enjoy the current product. They should only come back when they enjoy the product. The free time is over, now FFXIV will have to sink or swim.
honestly 2.0 is irrelevant to this game now, hes asking you to pay now, when 2.0 comes out, it will be a different enough product that they will have a new trial period. If all you want is 2.0 you can come back then. No one is asking you to invest in 2.0, they are asking you to play for the game you are currently playing, or choose not to.

12 bucks is cool, i can totally afford it.
But personally i think 5 is more on the lines. Because its true, this game is about "half" of what i wanted in FFXIV. So sub'n half of the normal rate would be realistic, and completely understandable.
Other's will rage on full price and stop playing, thus making those who stay have less friends and or community to be a part of.
I think ideally SE should go for as many active players possible by 2.0. So when that hits it will be extremely huge and successful. A vast knowledgeable player base + oncoming new players, will be better when 11 was released on PS2 imo. I am for one truely excited to participate in this whole ordeal/story in Eorzea.
Its the twinkle in the games eye!
