Why do we need a need/greed option? Why can't they just keep it as it was?
Make the loot go to someone and then have that person pass it to whoever needs it. Just make it a general drop and not if everyone has a lamp.

Options. We need:
Master Looter - master looter gets all the items that drop and the master looter can pass to anyone he desires within a certain time frame. Say 5 min~ is about right. Also since most items that drop from NM's are rare/exc, if the master looter accidentally gives the item/items to the wrong person, that person should be able to trade it the correct person within the allotted time frame. This is so if any mistakes happen it can easily be corrected.
Need/Greed - only good in my opinion if it is a pick up group or if your group agrees on this system ahead of time.
This is by far the worst loot system I've ever seen in a MMO, never have I seen so much loot go to waste cause it falls to people who doesnt want or cant use the weapons without them having an option to give them away to the ones who actualy need them.
Reading the interviews about it being decision the dev seemed happy with made me loose quite a chunk of faith in the future of XIVs end game.
I'd rather have a 1% drop rate on weapons but have them be tradeable to thoose who attended the fight then this any day.
All thoose grade5 Dark Matter stacking up is like a huge slap in the face on top of that.

All I care for is getting at least a master looter option, for the rest I could care less if we get a need or greed, lot system or round robin in conjunction with ml.
Frankly any system is better then the one we have now, ifrit fight or otherwise, XI's loot system wasnt anything great but even that was leaps and bounds better then XIVs.
Each kill gives 1 fire medal, 20 fire medals allows you to buy a weapon. Pretty much keeps the replayability intact while not screwing you over due to bad luck.
I was 0/30ish before I got my 1st drop too and one of my teammate was 0/40ish before 1st loot. I think SE make it this way to keep u busy before 1.20 come out. Yeah, to prevent u from complaining about they delay on patch since u will be busy with loot and got no time to play with forum this way>_<
My LS has been keeping track of stats, unfortunately we haven't been keeping track of 1, 2 or, zero horns being broken, but here is what our drop rate is looking like. I find it absolutely ridiculous that the zero drop rate is this high. To note, we almost always have 1 horn broken (if horns even effect drop rate); rarely having both broken.
This does track double drops, but even more eye opening are the attendance to item ratio. Some people coming just a couple of times and already getting what they want while others have near perfect attendance and don't have what they want nor as much.
This is out of 134 attempts.

All they need to do is to put the item in a persons treasure pool and allow it to be traded to thoose that attended, just like the dungeons, I dont care if they have to nerf the drop % even more then it is now, if they want a time sink this is the worst possible way to put one in, people that are 0/30+ simply give up in disapointment and anger from seing the item they want drop but going to someone who doesnt want or already got the very same item thus destroying it.
I can't say it enough, this is an inexcusable developer choice, the promise that it will be fixed in the future (2.0 lol) isnt good enough, this is completely broken right now and is ruining the game for many people.

Why couldn't they just use the same loot system that Darkhold has? That was good enough. The Ifrit loot system is much worse.
The mind boggles.
