I was exageratign a bit to say that in this game you can already do anythign and everything...so locking gears being gender is silly
I know, I was half joking anyway, after the screenshots I posted on Page 2, I can hardly argue too much with your hyperbole.
I don't mind gender locking as such, but I agree with thos who have repeatedly suggested that any gear that is not unizex, should come with a male and female version, like the Coatee set. Personally though, dropping the job/class restriction and making dyeable RSE are more important.
Look, some people would like all gear to be available to everyone. That's their perogative.
I think more people would prefer that both sexes have equal but different options. Because diversity adds flavor to the game.
Also, I would like to point out that in real life the sexes are naturally different AND equal. And the world is a richer place for it.

Bikini Roegadyn already happened during 1.x (where wearing a undershirt gear was required for every gender) ^^While a hat may be a bit much, I like the idea of gender locked gear. I think it would take away immersion to have a bunch of bikini/ thav bustier wearing roes running around everywhere. Of course I know other things do as well, but I am not a big fan of those things as well.

As a member of the Vegan community, I find the fact that my character is FORCED to eat Grilled sweet fish for accuracy to be obscenely offensive! This is pure discrimination!

I just wish I had an option for the female variant of certain glamours. Like, I love how the females dragoon armor shows off their stomach, I would love to be able to wear that and show a little more skin. I like what people are saying about making a similar /visor option for things like that. I just wanna make myself sexy ~
Tbh, I'm just really annoyed over this, why on earth is the hat gender locked when the only difference is a feather? I'm in favor of just removing the gender locked gear all together in making things everything Unisex please, maybe with the additional option for like a /bellywindow or /cleavage or whatever for guys and girls as well. What I really don't get is how people come to the conclusion that gender/race locking anything makes players look more unique >_> Limiting options does not lead to more unique looks, just more money spent on fantasia lol.
I'm a giant dragon and heretic sympathizer and I love character customization
See my thread about equalizing the heights for men and women of each race! http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/253435-A-suggestion-regarding-height.
It's easier to see this concept in reverse: if everyone had access to everything exactly the same, then nobody would be unique. We would all be homogenized wearing the same gear the same way wearing the same bunny ears and doing the same sundrop dance.
If you really wanted to make you character unique, you would embrace what is exclusive to her and highlight it. For example, I'm a scholar. Two of my favorite pieces of equipment are the AF culottes and the AF2 top hat. Do I play other classes besides scholar: yup! But I want these items to stay unique to my scholar because they're iconic and set that job apart. Similarly, you play a female Miqo'te, right? Your racial skirt is AWESOME - I wish I could have it. But I play a lalafell, I get dumb white bloomers instead. But if I could wear the Miqo'te racial skirt on a lala, then that would be one less thing that's unique and enticing about playing a female Miqo'te. And if all jobs could wear that school-girl skirt, there'd be one less thing enticing about playing Scholar. Soon there's no reason to play one race or one job or one sex over another; there's no trade off, no real choice. We may as well not have them.
