They did mention in an interview that one of the things they're doing with the new client and server structure and such in 2.0 is putting in framework for things they don't have any plans for yet but might want to implement later. One of the specific examples he gives is interfacing with smartphones.

I have a smartphone myself and though I haven't played WoW since long before that feature was added, it's something I'd be interested in. I think market wards would be the easiest and most useful to add, since I might find something I need while I'm away from home and don't want to miss it. You could also be able to restock your retainers' bazaars if things are selling. Additionally, I'd love to see something where I could access my LS/Company chat as well as in-game mail, to be able to help people out and set up events even when I can't play the game right now.

I'm not so sure about crafting because that seems a little too much like "playing the actual game" to me, but then I can't really come up with any good reasons why you couldn't do it.
