New Tomestone weapon vs Anima weapon

Hello guys I'm making this thread to start a debate about a question that came to my head since the recent Live letter.

So we all know that the next stage will be on 3.25 right? On the live letter we found out that more or less the this sub patch will come on the next 3 weeks after the launch of 3.2.

The biggest question here, its really gonna be worth to spend the new tomestones for it's weapon if the next stage of the anima is released on the next week or rather on the same week you finished grinding all the tomestones needed?

I'm sure we all know, that the tomestone weapon will take us for sure 3 weeks and on mi opnion, I'm not gonna like to spend on a weapon im going to throw almost inmediatly. I would prefer to spend the tomestones on the possible chest and trousers I'm gonna be able to get on that time.

I know that posible lot of people may not agreed with me, specialy the hardocore players, since them are possibly are going to reach to the last room of Alexander Midas and obtain the tome that will let them upgrade that weapon.

But lets be honest, I really dont think that most people will be playing Midas savage, possible some people wont be as fast as orthers to clear the final floor and by that time the next stage of the anima will be abailable.

Well thats my opinion, I really prefer to start with my gear than my weapon and wait for the next stage of the anima to be released, that of course it will be much more easier than the last one.

    So whats your opinion guys?

Yeah hopefully SE does a good job of balancing the tome weapon, the sephirot weapon, the raid weapon and the relic. Hopefully they won't make the easiest weapon to get also the strongest weapon. Effectively making the other weapons pointless to get, but we will see i guess.

I'm guessing that its going to be something like this:

    Sephirot EX weapon
    Lore base/Crafted
    Upgraded Lore/Anima +1
    Midas

One thing to consider is that we do not know how long it will take to finish the next stage of the Anima weapon quest. If it takes on average a month to complete sanely and you are actively raiding, buying your Lore weapon might make clearing Midas Savage faster and easier depending on when the upgrade token is rewarded.

I could be updating my gear, why wait for the weapon?
Upgrading weapons tends to grant the most bang per buck. 2 WD, 8 Main stat and 10 Vit tends to be better than 8 Main stat and 10 Vit.

True, but I don't like wasting tomestones on weapons too early.
Besides since I currently don't raid my Anima will be enough till I fully upgrade it during the patch.

Did you mean there is going to be a crafted weapon too? I didn't really did too deep into the live letter so I don't know. I did hear about all the new crafted battle gear(that looks like dyed high allagan gear?).

If so, have they ever made a crafted weapon that stands up to any of the other options? In past patches, crafted weapons have been only slightly better than maybe the dungeon tome weapons. For instance the Wootz weapons and such.

Side note, I like you called the relic upgrade the "+1". I really miss back at 2.0 launch how the first upgrade made it a "+1". That's a throwback to the other FF games of course. I'm sad they got away from that naming convention. It would be cool if they made +1 back in the game somehow, like maybe for a stage above HQ in crafting or something.

Didn't the first part of this live letter (the one from a couple weeks ago), imply that the raid weapon would be the best one, as they plan on it being the hardest to obtain?

In the very least, he explicitly explained that because Gordian Savage was so hard, other means of obtaining same iLevel weapons had to also be very difficult, and that they didn't want Relic to be so difficult to obtain again.

Therefore, either Midas will be massively easier so other similar iLevels items can be easier to obtain than 3.1 options, or raid weapons are better so they can justify the lower iLevel weapons being easier to obtain.

I'm going to at least work towards the new tomestone weapon, since I'll likely be getting it at the same time the new step comes out I'll then be able to compare both the stats of the weapons as well as what the Anima step will actually entail (considering we don't know that either yet).

SE pretty much admitted they plan to nerf the hell out of Alexander Gordias Savage with the upcoming patch, due to overtight tuning causing it to be completely off the radar for way more players than they anticipated. If it becomes easy enough, there might wind up being more people in Midas than you may think.

I dont think most people will clear Midas Savage on less than 3 weeks.
