    Shared Skills

So why can't some skills be shared between jobs only the cross class skills. Was thinking we already have advance jobs that start at lvl 30 so why not have the guilds provide advance jobs as well. These jobs would share some of the basic abilities of the guild classes including having a set of new skills. EXAMPLE Geomancer could be given at the Conjurers guild as mages that use conjury for offense purposes Instead of healing. So essentialy they use a bell instead of a cane. They could share the Aero and stone spells with the fellow WHM but have also new spells.

The thing is though, Job abilities being unique and not cross-classable has been a fundamental aspect of the system since the end of 1.0 - that was the trade-off for having a Job equipped. If you wanted to cross-class abilities, you technically were meant to stick with a class, as classes were meant to be the ones who were 'versatile' - Jobs were meant to be role refinements of that specific class but the price for that improvement was the new abilities you got were unique for that Job and could not be cross-classed. Basically, you can't have your cake and eat it too. And I'm pretty certain SE has regarded the idea of having multiple Jobs on the same class as a failed experiment.

And finally, once again here in FFXIV there is no variation in equipment with classes/Jobs, because this is the Armoury System not the FFXI Job System - here you don't equip a weapon to a class/Job, your weapon is the class/Job. That's what it has always been and what it always will be. That's not to say SE will not refine the system and improve on it. But they will not completely replace it with FFXI's system which is basically what you're asking for.

I've said it before in a past thread and it warrants repeating here - there is actually nothing wrong fundamentally with the Armoury System, SE just needs to stop listening to FFXI players, and bring consistency to what we have in FFXIV - stick with a single Job upgrade on a class, refine the classes so that they are actually viable to stick with (Making any class ability able to be cross classed on any other class could be a start), refine the Jobs to truly specialize in that role, and fix the experiments (namely, separate SCH from ACN and give it a new base class, like 'Mediator'?, and give base classes for the three HW Jobs - Ravager for DRK, Musketeer for MCH and Mystic for AST perhaps?) - as the system is getting increasingly muddled by all this tinkering around the edges with it. But it is still a very good system with a lot of potential that is yet to be fully appreciated.

True they should add a base class to every job. My thing is that we have all these skills that we are able to cross class that are useless so extending the skills that are we are able to cross class would be a good Idea a lot of people would like diversity. but if we have more skills that are crossed class and maybe even the traits to cross class some traits to a point were we could be unique from others of your own kind

A million times this has been addressed: You're only going to be 'unique' if you're a bad. It's simple. The best traits/cross-class will be found (like it is currently) and everyone will be expected to use it. No ifs or buts, no one cares about your $15 to play as you want. It's how 'customization' goes in every MMO. It's the harsh reality of an MMO, especially one with a trinity.
