The reasons listed above are also my way of stating I don't believe /most/ of the tactics that are stated by "HC" players. You can't tell me I can't do Alexander, Savage or not, with my current gear because I've already done it. You can't tell me it's not possible when it's already been achieved, and not someone else, /me/. I've done it so where are you at?

I also want to state I'm not /trying/ to be sarcastic, or cut off. I want feedback! I want to discuss!

NIN was /released/ like that though. NIN was never STR based, it came out as a DEX dps. I get what you're saying, I can read the stats in Character Screen, but Tanks have already been established.

Yes, and it's been established that VIT is our main stat since we can only need on VIT accessories.
So, it totally makes sense that our main stats is what helps us achieve high damage numbers, since it works that way for every other job.

Maybe you've never seen a need for pentamelded accessories, but it's not really the point. You just need a highly vocal minority saying it's mandatory to see everyone parroting it, even though they have no real idea as to how it really changes anything. Once the word is spread out, it's too late.

And you've touched on my point exactly, in that parroting the highly vocal minority has become (what am I saying, it HAS been! :P) the standard instead of exploring and experimenting on one's own. This lets people easily assume STR tanks aren't worth their salt and are squishy, promoting the "need" for changes like we're seeing, which of course I disagree with.

I would rather have the diversity to spec the way I want. Like the PVP heals in this thread using VIT, there's some diversity.

In all honesty before HW I used to be a VIT tank, and it was a great build. Loved it. But as I experimented more and got my buffs down I've turned into a STR tank that gave me many more advantages even over WARs (I'm a pally) Now all that is null and I just don't see a point in taking away diversity (on top of never ending housing decorations) when I wish the time would be used for more classes, or weapons, or anything really. (Except for housing decorations, lol)

My skepticism would end if this change balanced the 3 tank classes more. In this respect, I'm hoping for the best. But I still think it an unneeded change and it's just pandering. I wish the time was used for more battle classes, fixing issues crafters have, and more battle classes! Shouldn't we have a few coming out!? It's almost been a year, is there even progress? But no all updates are little fix to nothing this, and that and more housing fixtures because housing housing housing. The whole thing is driving me bonkers

I'm good. I have VIT stuff while struggling to snatch some STR accessories. To be honest, I'm a VIT tanks who's NOT cheering on the update; I'm neutral about it.

I hit Lv10 PLD on 10/15/2013. I hit Lv50 PLD on 01/09/2014 while hitting Lv60 PLD on 10/16/2015 (three whole years later, huh?). The reason for the gap after HW released was because I was doing minor tanking while focusing on NIN. That said, Having had my PLD for 2 years now has no effect on how I like VIT vs STR.

These changes are needed to fix balancing issues that Pld/War/Drk all have, right now is not pandering, people want these desired changes for the most part only the people who are claiming there's no diversity haven't realized what a tank is. People are tired of being a glorified DPS that can outdps either sub par DPS or really bad DPS hell I can push over 1k-1100 DPS in Alex Savage it's the provided support I can give once I know the fight and can give the DPS when it's needed.

If you loved being VIT then why would you refute it now? VIT is going to be our main stat as it should be, It's not pandering for the community to want what a tank is that's all i'm saying I want to be able to get an upgrade I can need on and not have to fight my DPS for it, it's not uneeded, tanks were the only class that required to pentameld in order to push content. A big reason why people are clearing As1-2 so easily now is because people overgear the content for the rewards they give, full ilvl 205-209 geared people can clear it without a problem, that was a huge issue about Alex Savage the rewards didn't justify the effort.

I find this entertaining. All these "STR" tanks wanting there gear swapped to VIT instead. SE never instead STR to be a TANK stat. You chose that path, you chose to go STR instead of VIT, not earn the jewelry like your suppose to.

I have said it before, and will say it again. GOOD TANKS were preparing for this possibility in November. Good tanks took this news in stride and simply began making adjustments.

Or just diligent tanks. I'd already completed one of my Esoteric accessory sets on PLD and was about half done the other when the news came. Currently, my Slaying and Fending sets are both sitting pretty at 203 iLvl, pending this week's VA run (my belt is holding me back).

I personally never understood the notion of letting Fending accessories hit the floor. I mean... What do you lose... 5 slots in your inventory/armoury/retainers? They didn't do completely nothing. You'd still ideally want them for whole dungeon pulls or whatever other shenanigans that would require a higher health threshold then what Full STR or Semi STR would provide. Lol the things people do to themselves and then have the gall to expect consolation for their choices.
