I don't think that we should be able to exchange Slaying for Fending as they'll be super easy to obtain in 3.2 (even now), but implying that everyone should've gotten Fending gear when it was literally useless to most people is a bit disingenuous.
You could also argue the opposite however, that str gear was useless unless all you did was raid. There's no real need for str gear in dungeons because there are no heavy DPS checks (and a crap ton of mobs smacking you in the face). And most of the community is not raid-centric. I get what you're saying and tbh it's a moot point on both ends, we could argue for days and both be right AND wrong. I just bought both, but tank things came first because I was a tank /:

Clearing dungeons faster isn't useless to me. STR gear had a use in dungeons. VIT gear literally had no use in raids.

so you're saying people could go into savage day 1 in str gear and not have to worry about not getting pounded into the floor by the 1st 3 attacks? I'm just playing devils advocate, clearing dungeons 3 or 4 minutes faster because your tank dps is good and all, but so is giving your healer some room to not have to chain cast to keep you alive when 6 mobs are smashing your face. I've used both types, and even mixed so I see the merits of both, but saying vit gear is useless in raids is a gross oversimplification.

Possibly only because their is usually a bit less str on acc than vit.. Or was it the other way around.
Either way tanks will likely benefit from melding a single grade 5 str materia into all their vit acc (remember all gear will be meldable). This change will probably end up being a tank buff. Just sucks day 1 of 3.2

Did I miss something? Aren't our Tomestones of Law getting converted into Tomestones of Esoterics when 3.2 hits? Could have sworn I saw that there. If that's the case, then couldn't anyone who needs to switch gear in preparation for the patch just farm a bunch of Tomestones of Law, and buy in bulk on the 22? A full set of Eso accessories @ 375 Eso apiece will cost 1875 Eso, plus at least one Illuminati Gobcoat. I dunno about you guys, but if that law-to-Eso conversion is a thing, I'm not worried at all about being able to get appropriate gear in time.

If it's anything like the last tomestone change, no. You'll probably be able to manually convert Law to Esoteric at one of the tomestone NPCs, but at a crappy exchange rate, same as Soldiery to Poetics. Your leftover Law won't just magically turn 1:1 into Esoterics.

Aha, well that makes sense. Still, capping Law would make sense. Even if it's a 2:1 or a 3:1 conversion, that would still go a long way to helping those who are struggling to re-build their sets (representing ~660-1000 Esoterics from full Law).

EDIT: As a curiosity, what was the conversion rate like before?

The last 2 conversion rates have been 4:1.
    Mythology > Soldiery
    Soldiery > Poetics

I do not remember the conversion rate for Philosophy > Mythology.

I can't see what's wrong with allowing a swap. It's not like u get free vit accs, you lose ur Str ones in the process

On the same vein as this suggestion, I would like to get my craft specialty stones refunded, because back when they were introduced and I chose my specialty there was not craft specialty based recipes. Surely requiring me to purchase new stone with the red script to "fix" choises done back then is too much when they introduce such game changer. .. .. no? Just regear yourself, with the esos they hand out like candy.

If you say 'pls' because it's shorter than 'please', I say 'no' because it's shorter than 'yes'.
