All these replies on this and the other thread ignoring the 1 big thing: they shouldn't have to.

1. if it all won't matter due to us moving on to higher ilvls...then it shouldn't be a problem to allow this

2. and if it does matter at all, people who have been playing tanks as the content dictated shouldn't be penalized for it

I'm kinda surprised the big announcement didn't immediately follow up with "oh yeah we'll let slaying/fending accessories get exchanged for those who want to".

3.0->3.15 has been out for a very, very long time. All the tanks I know finished their STR and VIT accessory sets ages ago. Heck, even I have a VIT set, and tanking is something I do as a tertiary role. (I'm primarily Monk, secondary Machinist)

As for newer players, having to farm things out isn't a new concept for newer players. All they have to do to get their accessories in 3.2 is farm a couple hours since esos are going to be uncapped.

The only people who lose out are those who let things drop on the ground, which isn't a smart idea regardless of whether or not you'll actually use the items. (Stuff eventually can be desynthed or turned in for seals)
But even so, they can still get the stuff they need, just like new players, by farming for a couple hours.

Right? I picked up the VIT gear to use on my healer in PVP. xD

But even so, they can still get the stuff they need, just like new players, by farming for a couple hours.

Exactly this. Esoterics will be our new uncapped currency. This isn't a huge deal at all.

Again, it doesn't matter.
3.0 gear will be obsolete, be they STR or VIT accesories.
It's probably why they waited 3.2 to do the change.

Why would you think such a thing would be implemented?

They alluded to this happening way before 3.1 hit, and have now officially announced the upcoming change ahead of time to give players time to prepare. On top of that Eso is going to be uncapped in 3.2, and Midas NM will be dropping better gear so there's no reason for SE to placate players who couldn't connect the dots over 3 months ago.

Im still confused at why some tanks ONLY invested in DPS accessories... Level dragoon and be glad that's 5 less things you have to buy/upgrade.


Also, SE shouldn't cater to you wanting to trade your items for other ones, tanks should buy tank gear before branching out to other options, because you know, tanking.

Not how the meta worked. Fending was useless unless all you did was dungeons. The only reason anyone wants what the OP wants is because no one was prepared for this change until there was speculation about it, and even then it was just speculation (meaning you could end up wasting hours of your time for literally no reason). I don't think that we should be able to exchange Slaying for Fending as they'll be super easy to obtain in 3.2 (even now), but implying that everyone should've gotten Fending gear when it was literally useless to most people is a bit disingenuous.

It's going to take you a few hours to grind the Eso needed. I don't see the big deal. Maybe if you was a top tier raider competing for world first....but if you was you'd have been doing AS for a while now and would be full VIT anyways.
