    Not what I was saying.

I was saying SE should justify the work put into giving Ifrit-Egi mage/tank skills by having Ifrit-Egi (and all other Egi) be something all players can actively fight.

Then it isn't an adjustment that solely benefits Summoner, because everyone gets a new mob out of the arrangement. Giving the Egi a full set of animations then becomes less about giving Summoner a vanity system (which is honestly not deserving of a large amount of development resources), and more about just preparing a piece of content for everyone (which potentially is). No different than working on a new enemy type for a new dungeon. That could speed up development of such a system, because it no longer means working on these animations (the bulk of the work) benefits a single Class, it benefits everyone.

I wasn't saying every single Job should get them, nor that we should actively find them in the open world and need to defeat them to be able to Glamour them, though they certainly could be part of the Summoner quests to obtain the Glamour. I was simply saying it is easier to justify the development cost if the Egi aren't locked to Summoner. Beastmaster (were it added) is still the only Job that gets to make pets out of random monsters, but Beastmaster could have a plethora of monsters to choose from because no work needs to go into those pets; All the work has already been done, we already have a plethora of monster types to be Charmed. Everyone already fights those monsters in all sorts of content. To a degree this has already been done... Titan-Egi makes an appearance in Titan (Extreme) with some unique animations... Ramuh-Egi shows up in the Ramuh fight as well; They don't need to go "It'll be too hard to design a Ramuh-Egi" at this point, because they already designed a Ramuh-Egi for the Ramuh fight, which is something for everyone, not just for Summoner. They designed Ramuh-Egi for everyone, Summoner still hasn't even gotten him... Apply that kind of thinking to developing a full set of animations for all of them and it is much easier to justify the mountain of work that entails. For example, the new (Hard) dungeons appear to be the new 2.x dungeons, so one expects Snowcloak (Hard) at some point; Make a boss a would-be Summoner with a Shiva-Egi, with a full set of mage/tank/melee animations, and providing Shiva-Egi to Summoner comes off the back of that, rather than making Shiva-Egi for Summoner just being a massive amount of work solely for Summoner. It would still be a lot of work to produce, but no more so than any other dungeon boss really...

As for Scholar... This depends entirely on how you do it... If you Glamour a pet the way I've suggested... You kind of need to work Scholar into the mix anyway (since Summon and Summon II would now require an item equipped to determine what is summoned). Other ways can be worked, of course, but IMO they're inferior... Making use of that offhand slot lets you switch Pet-Glamour on a whim, and we've certainly got enough space in the Armory Chest given how underused offhand is. You could make a consumable, but do you really want to lug Ifrit/Garuda/Titan/Ramuh/Shiva/Leviathan specific Egi-Glamour consumables around? They could make it a conversation with a NPC, but do you really want to visit said NPC every time you want to switch things up? No. Putting it in the offhand slot is by far the most convenient method to work a Pet-Glamour system into the game, and doing that practically begs Scholar to get the same treatment. Like I also said, giving Scholar Pet-Glamours is much less work as well, since healer/support type pet animations are basic, while mage/tank/melee all need to be specific to the Egi. Ifrit-Egi cannot use Rock Buster, we'd need to give him an entirely new animation (for each tank/mage skill). Meanwhile Eos can use Silent Dawn, and Selene can use Whispering Dawn, because Eos and Selene are basic pallet swaps with their action animations being basic. It wouldn't even be hard to let Carbuncle use both skills. Carbuncle who already has mage and tank pet type animations. Given the demand to see Carbuncle again (and no, crappy minions from overpriced merchandise does not count, even if those minions were available for free in game I'd not likely count them...) I see no reason not to throw him into the mix. Giving him melee pet animations is the only real difficulty, healer and support animations are too basic to be much of a challenge. Plus we can get a large variety of Carbuncle types to summon very easily, since no extra work needs to go into animating a red Carbuncle or purple Carbuncle, they're all just reskins of the existing one that use the exact same animations (same goes for Eos and Selene, plus something like an Airy reskin they could work on for a Bravely Second event).

But yeah, my point wasn't that every Job should be able to go out and obtain a pet Egi, it was that SE should work on Egi animations in a smart way, the same way Beastmaster potentially has no problem with having a host of pets complete with animations, because all the monsters already exist, animations and all. Having Shiva-Egi as part of Snowcloak (Hard) means they're doing the regular thing of designing a boss for a dungeon, which is something everyone "benefits" from. Off the back of that, all the work for Shiva-Egi for Summoner can be completed. The alternative is that they take forever, because making a proper Pet-Glamour system is a lot of work to benefit very few players, something like that will never receive a significant amount of development time. They already devout a lot of development time to new dungeons and new bosses/animations for those dungeons though, so why not work something like Egi animations in to kill two birds with one stone? If it fits of course. I could see Shiva-Egi in Snowcloak (Hard) very easily, but other Egi are slightly harder to work into such content. Still, if it can be done, why not? Two birds with one stone, like I said.

Ah sorry. Misunderstood you and now that makes complete sense. That would also allow for growth in content. Really good idea! Sorry I misunderstood you.

The other idea I like is that it is based on Extreme Primal clears, that way it applies to existing content and helps those who need/want to clear. You would earn crystals from those battles, and after a said amount is earned, it would be turned in to the Summoner Contact to enhance an offhand tablet or quill or something of that nature. I do believe the glamors should be earned and not just handed out.

I toyed around with a similar idea, but in the end I figured it would probably be better just to give Summoner some extra quests for the Austerities of <Element> to get the new Egi, with something like "After mastering Dreadwyrm Trance, your aether has improved and now you can summon Ramuh-Egi!", they'd just need to add relevant offhand items to old quests (doing the Austerities of Fire quest, for example, would give you the item to equip to summon Ifrit-Egi, rather than Summon III being Ifrit-Egi. You'd equip it, and Summon, Summon II, and Summon III would all be Ifrit-Egi). Getting the "old" versions of those items into existing Summoners hands would be a bit of a problem, but we could have three new side Austerities quests (Lightning, Water, Ice) to provide the new Egis.

I have... other... ideas on how to boost old contents relevance... That Primal themed tomestone armor in 3.2 is likely just going to be "Grind some tomestones" to obtain, but I'd have much rather seen old Primal fights drop an item to grant access to new content; So you beat Titan, get an item, now you can face off a group of advanced, Lv60 Kobold Priests, who perhaps throw an advanced Titan-Egi at you, who has melee and mage actions, for example.

Of course, rather than the Austerities of Lightning being effectively the same as the previous three, it could involve a quest where we fight Ramuh a few extra times for Key Items to trade in to allow us to summon Ramuh-Egi, rather than some hand wave solution like I just suggested. We'd expand our aether to allow the rite to take place by beating the old guy several times, or something... Might even make working the existing Egi in easier, since we could have the Austerities of Fire (Hard) to unlock Ifrit-Egi glamour, with an offhand "focus" for the Egi being the solution to the aether problem we encountered when trying Ramuh-Egi (damn that quest was such a tease).
