Changing race (game watch interview)

I think people are misinterpreting this. The way I understand it, we all get to change and customize our character again at the time of 2.0's release.

What Yoshi is saying here is, gender and race are not going to be allowed to be changed AFTER that.

Meaning you can still change your hair color, etc. etc. etc. whenever you want, but gender and race will be locked.

I am all for race changing. If you choose, you should be able to change your race, for a fee, i'm sure. I see no reason we should have less options.

It was specifically and clearly noted 4 days ago in the PDFs that we will indeed be able to change our race, gender, and features.

/nod if it's that then it makes sense but he brought this up when the interview was talking about current existing players. Wouldn't make sense if they allowed players who created character after the new FFXIV to be able to change style after. Unless he's talking about the barber stuff players requested way back where we can change hair style anytime.

This has got to be the case. I find it highly unlikely that he would make such a drastic change of mind in only 4 days or less.

You will be able to fully recustomize your character one time when 2.0 comes out, because they will be adding new customization options (e.g. new race gender options). They aren't going to allow it beyond that.

Basically, what has been said above. No paid recustomizations, only the one time one with the 2.0 release.

I think they should allow us to race change through a repeatable quest. I wouldn't want to be stuck with the same character for years like I was in FF11. but I guess people could always resort to *gasp* 3rd party tools like plastic surgeon to make up for where the game is lacking.

YoshiP - I am still undecided on that. It is possible but it doesn’t feel right when a friend suddenly has race change over night. Maybe I shouldn’t allow that much. For example for Hair Style or Color, Eye color, Skin Color those I believe are ok to be customized.

Since there will be new races added, I believe Yoshi-P should allow it. I know some people would have picked another gender or race/gender if it was available then, when they created their character.
As for the "it doesn't feel right", there are lot of things that don't feel right in the game at the moment. Things are being fixed, so should the race choice of players.
