    Vote Kick Abuse

The other night I was fighting Levi Ex for the first time with two of my FC crew. I watched a video on the strategy and was pretty much sound; I didn't die anymore than the average player there. On the second wipe and beginning the third attempt, all of a sudden I'm booted from the Trial with no rhyme nor reason.

My two fellow FC members can vouch for me as they didn't understand why I had been vote kicked either. They both left the Trial straight after I was booted and frankly I found them more angry than me about it. It caused a deep discussion in the FC chat after regarding my DPS, strategy, ect which all checked out. No one could explain why I was dropped.

When you Vote Kick, there's a warning that abuse of the system comes with consequences. My question is, what are these exactly and how do I report being kicked unfairly? Would Square listen if I submitted some kind of grief report?

I'd really like some advice on this.

It depends what was actually unfair. I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong in your situation, but its all about perception. You may know you are doing what you are supposed to be doing, but it can look differently to other people. Tack on a new person bonus and its easy to get caught in a witch hunt when mechanics aren't being done properly. You can report it and see where it goes, it doesn't hurt you in any way if they don't find anything.

Pretty much if the group agrees to kick, it is considered "fair" regardless of if you feel you were in the wrong or right.

There might be some things you can report for though. Like if some on is trolling by constantly making vote abandons at the start of boss fights. You see that in 24 man sometimes, where people are supposed to mistake it for a ready check and vote yes.

It's pretty hard to prove something was an abuse of kick in that situation. They had nothing to gain from kicking you like for example if you were kicked before opening loot to stop you being able to roll on it after demands that you pass on loot that would be abuse. Kicking after a couple of wipes for somebody under performing in the opinion of the people voting on it in no way can be found abusive.

I definitely hear what you're all saying. I guess it knocked me a little since I've done a lot of Extreme modes via Duty Finder and found people had little to no problems with me personally. This including doing Titan Ex the first time. (That was fun!)

The two folk in my FC actually said I was doing more damage as my synced level 56 than the level 60 synced DPS. I just hate to think they vote kicked me because I hadn't completed the Trial before. Has the community really gotten so bad as to VK newbies? Heck, I've done it myself when they don't know the strategy to an Ex fight at all or someone's just not listening to advice, but not what feels like at random. I guess I'll let it slide, but it'd be nice if Square actually implemented a button solely for reporting this kind of thing.

It may not be harassment, but sitting in the DF for another 25 minutes is not fun.

Yesterday I had people leaving a trial because they saw it was someone's first time doing it (and the first-timer was me). We were only 4 people left. So we replaced DPS and found another healer and proceeded to kill it. It really is unfair at times, especially with vote kick. But getting a system to work perfectly (or fair) when there is so much human factor involved in it (and especially considering that this is an MMO, an online game where people react according to their wits) is almost impossible.

The big flaw in the system is that 2 people (in 4 man group content) Can kick anyone they please. So if one person wants to kick you, often his friend will just agree with him. Seen this happen way to many times in my time in this game.

Unless you mention it nobody will know who the newbie in a fight is. And frankly I've seen *cough* *cough* PRO players fail in levi ex harder then newbies that checked out the fight and are still learning it.

Vote kick is often abused as a let's kick someone random out and leave the duty then. So instead of a vote abandon you get that.

Once had a healer in Levi EX that after a couple of wipes - each one progressing a bit further, started spaming vote abandon - we told him to just leave if they want to. I was toying with AST at the time but rejoined that fight on WHM and we cleared it with me solo healing it.

But yeah sadly you meet all kinds in DF... Hope you'll have better experience in the future though.

Yes this is annoying a lot. I really wish they would make it a majority in all cases. And of course always count the one being kicked as against it.

The flaw goes into both directions and, well, the other end is there too. Now it is enough that two people agree to kick in light party stuff. As it stands
    Light party (4 people)
Two person can kick one person / need group of three to troll safely the rest 1 person
    Full party (8 people)
4 people can kick one person / need group of 5 to troll safely the rest three people
    Alliance stuff (24 people)
4 people in one party fan kick one person / need group of 5 (!) to troll safely the rest 19 people

Guess I've seen too much the latter, that is trolling, instead of the vote kick abuses. But if light party would require all three to vote for the kick, the only way to get rid of trolls who bring a friend would be leaving.

If you say 'pls' because it's shorter than 'please', I say 'no' because it's shorter than 'yes'.
