Yeah uh you kind of missed the pointOR one friend could just level a DD class and be done with it. Seriously, leveling these days is not hard at all, especially once you hit the mid-30's. With the right groups you can skyrocket right to 50 from there within days easily.
Yeah, more jobs would help things and they'll get to it eventually. For the start of the system, 1 job per class is reasonable enough. Though honestly these fictional people who only level a single class to 50 are gonna be screwed when they add the multi-class jobs.
In that you noted "job can use x weapon but when exactly has a BRD used a bow lol. The reality is it may moreso be the abilities behind a class rather then the weapon themselves that may determine the classes that come from them. Since it was noted that apparantly 30 GLA and 15 MAR would be a PLD. With that in mind what exactly makes MAR a requirement for PLD is it because of their parry abilities? But ya, hopefully we'll get some answers in the next few days since it would be reallly intersting to see how jobs work, I hope if they do bring it up they'll actually show an example of the whole concept behind it.Personally, I have an issue with classes being limited in PT role options, and with Jobs, this will be worse.
A 2nd job option for every class needs to eventually be added.
(Aka if it heals, need DD or tank, if its a tank, it needs DD or heal.)
The best I could think up (for now) was;
GLA -> PLD or Knight (Two Hand, unequip a shield to do more dmg.) I would suggest a sort of Dual wield, but *shrug*
PGL -> MNK or THF or NIN (some sort of optional DD/tank, depending on MNK mechanics)
MRD -> WAR or DRK (Not sure what else could use a Great Axe)
LNC -> DRG or SAM (Also not sure what else could use a polearm)
ARC -> BRD or RNG (not sure what else again)
CNJ -> WHM or RDM (Similar to CNJ, but more DD focused maybe)
THM -> BLM or Time Mage ( not sure what else, maybe BLU or SCH *shrug*)
Right now, if 2 friends want to play GLA, the 2nd is useless, since the 2nd GLA can't DD instead.
With jobs, this doesn't seem to be getting fixed any. (Maybe I'm wrong)
From other things that's been said in interviews they made it sound like you advance through the job by doing quest to obtain abilities and quest, though I wonder if they'll also integrate Guild Marks into abilities which would also be nice.

Can't wait till we finally know! I am looking forward to it ^^ Did you guys know in FFXI THM was a BLM Type mob? :O

the great thing about final fantasy is, when the fantasy is over and the game is done. nothing has to be the same in the next one. i.e. how many cids have we seen. i'll just use two for an example. ff7 cid was a playable char, but FF12 cid was a crazy mad scientist boss. there is nothing to stop them making an evil chocobo the big bad boss of the next FF game (they won't or should i say better not) but in FF they can make anything happen and are not bound by what happened in a previous FF
P.S. sequel's are different
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.

I just want Musketeer.
I want Musketeer so badly.
Please Bayohne, grace me with knowledge. I can't sleep at night, I break down in tears at random, I just can't carry on.
Must... be... gangsta.
Giving me a hand cannon for two seconds in the LL storyline CS was the worst tease ever.

Yoshi already said that the next classes they're bringing out will be magic classes and pet classes and they hope to get those in by 2.0 but no promises. So I'd wager on any more DoW classes being on hold until 2.0 release or after, but that's just my thought.I just want Musketeer.

I'd be interested in seeing Gladiator split based on shield equip. When you're just wielding a sword, you're a gladiator. When you have a shield equipped, sure, you're still a gladiator, but you're also a Sentinel.
It'd be interesting if you equip your job stone with just a sword, you become a Knight with a great sword. If you have a shield equipped, you become a Paladin.
If they ever give archer dagger access, if you equip your job stone with a dagger equipped, you become a Thief. If you have a bow equipped, you become a Bard.
Using your job stone with a two handed THM arm would turn you into a White Mage, but a one handed arm would turn you into a Blue Mage.
Same concept for CNJ. Two handed arm turns you into a Black Mage, one handed turns you into a Red Mage.
