Curious about the mentor system. What will it do for me?

I am actually mentoring someone right now. An fc member needs help learning how to tank. He doesnt understand english very well so he needs help understanding skill descriptions among other things.

Whenever he learns a new skill, I explain to him what it does and hows its best used. Sometimes demonstrating it on proper combo usage etc.

I occasionally join him in low level dungeons as a scholar. Apologizing in advance for my inactivity to the DPS and explain that I sometimes let my fairy do the healing while I closely watch him tank.

If any mistakes are made. I note them down and go over them in a post dungeon review. And doing demonstrations on a dummy on how to correct it. There have been mistakes where I had to stress repeatedly that they are not acceptible. But progress has been pretty good. He can now confidently tank brayflox normal, wich is a bit of a milestone in terms of dungeon difficulty while levelling.

I'm wondering what else I can do for my pupil with the mentor system. And how he can further benefit from having me as an official mentor. (and if I benefit from it too)

Im guessing... no other benefit... other than a crown next to your name and some achievements.

Well, like many systems implemented in the game, if there are no apparent benefits in the beginning, then later on the devs put in some incentive to encourage players to use the system more often. It's just a matter of time.

Heres an idea of a useful feature:

Ive come to understand that theres going to be a spectator feature for pvp. It would be very usefull for me and my pupil if there would also be a possibilty for mentors and pupils to spectate eachother while theyre doing duties. And maybe even add a possibility to send chat messages as well to give explanations or ask questions.

On the side, this would also be usefull for players who merely use the mentor system with friends. Think of it as "streaming" for one viewer. In my fc it would be common that a raid static would drop a twitch link in the fc chat so the res of the fc could watch them raid.

This system could be expanded upon further, like the mentor being able to give buffs to the pupil while he's watching. Nothing too great mind you, but something small but usefull like a very small echo or a different form of free company buffs.

It should probably have a limit though to prevent it from being abused for endgame raiding. Like a level cap.
