I don't find it fun but I know tons of people who love DRG and find it great fun.

The only way you can see if it's fun for YOU is if you play it and see.

Depends on how fast you can learn a rotation. The DRG thread has a good rotation, and like everything you'll get it down with practice. Personally I'm not a fan of how strict the rotation is to get the high numbers (not to mention serious melee =/= fun for me).

Personally I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you like it now you'll probably like it at sixty; there's no huge difference in playstyle for DRG.

The only "complicated" thing is Blood of the Dragoon, Geirskogul and 4th tier combo strikes.

Blood of the Dragoon boosts Jump and Spineshatter Diver, also while it's up it allows you to refresh it (15s more) via a 4th strike after your normal combos (ImpulseDrive>Disembowel>Chaos Thrust and True>Vorpal>Full Thrust). The two 4th tier attacks have a 50% chance each, so it's a bit rng based on which skill will you have to use to refresh, they also have a positional requirement.
Geirskogul is a oGCD line AoE which consumes 10s of BotD timer. You can fit a total of 3 Geirskoguls in each BotD cd.

It's all about priority and keeping uptime.

I love the challenge of keeping up BOTD and maneuvering between positional skills. It makes the class more active instead of standing in one place and no braining it. If you like a challenge and embrace it. You will have a blast with Dragoon. I can't even imagine playing another DPS class.

DRG and MNK are by far my favorite melee to play. Is it hard? Not really. The rotation is straight forward, where it gets somewhat complicated is BotD management, but even then the rotation pretty much repeats itself, once you get it down it's cake. I like both, but I tend to run dungeons more on MNK due to better aoe. Is it fun? Fun is subjective, it can be fun when you know the encounter and are able to optimize your CDs. It can be very annoying when you are learning a fight and learning how and when to optimize your CDs. It sucks when you mess up BotD and have to go back to the old 2.0 rotation of shame.

The biggest change at 60 is that you rotate two main combos, with two main off-combo abilities, and with each combo ending in a 50/50 chance of needing to flank or rear. Between all this, you manage a buff that caps at 30s, is refreshed every time you end a combo by 15s, and is reduced by 10s when using an OGCD ability.

If you got a handle on playing dragoon at 50, the transition to 60 is not bad at all.

Don't listen to these people. Dragoon is the master class. I keep trying to play other things, but for some reason DRG keeps calling me back. It's funny, because I've never enjoyed DPS in any other MMO.

It's a little bit of a high-stress class at times - especially at end-game when losing BotD and are slammed back to your 50 rotation. That said, enough play, and you get accustomed to the rhythm of the rotation. We're not entirely made of paper, we have access to good self-heals. I find it to be a pleasurable game experience. Plus, DRG has the best class quests, especially as you move over into Ishgard.
