VIT will scale with attack power, STR will scale but not as much

Having to change gear at all was needlessly complicated. Compared to the other roles, why were Tanks the only ones stuck having to mix and match between upgrades and outdated melded accessories in order to excel? You have to admit, that was dumb, right?

Gear options are good. The problem is the purely defense option was poorly implemented. If anything, they should have fixed defensive accessories and then added more options for DPS and healers (though back in 2.0 before DPS checks were so ridiculous, both could get away with VIT melded accessories to add a survival cushion). Melds are a good thing if only to justify the entire existence of main stat materia. Healers sometimes meld accuracy, but no one is out there gathering up INT materia.

I also disagree that it was needlessly complicated. It's simple. I need more HP so I will put on more vitality. I am in little danger so I'll wear more strength. Getting the items is maybe more complicated than it should be, but this game is starved of things to do anyway so I don't see that as much of a problem.

And let's face it, our choice of gear wasnt really THAT much of a choice - it was strength all the way unless healers whined.

On trivial content, sure. Some stuff actually does hit hard enough to warrant some vitality on your gear if you're just going for the clear and don't care to attempt any speed records. Everyone likes to fap over their full STR parses but at crunch time it's usually melds that are leading the way because the VIT from your upgraded left side lets you play with the slaying right. The point is, though, that this is a change in the wrong direction. There were few choices before - now there are none.

SEE, this is why I didn't 210 all my str accessories. Not gonna lie, I'm super glad to go full VIT tank and not get bashed on for doing so

Counting this week, you still have *five* resets to get whatever from A1S/Void Ark/Tomestones before the patch comes out. This is assuming they're not all instantly outdated by something that's easily accessible and can have a STR materia dropped in it.
