Yup, there goes even the tiniest illusion of having any choice on what gear to wear.Currently full VIT vs. full STR is something like a 300 point difference in attack power. My guess is this gap is getting shrunk to like, 100 points.
Scenario:
5 Fending right side, 2 have parry.
You replace those two with STR pieces.
Is the loss of VIT, now the superior attacking stat, going to be made up for by raw secondaries? I'm not seeing it. People may just have to deal with having parry on their gear while dealing superior damage and having a superior HP pool. What a goddamn shame. :|

Rather snarky considering I was agreeing with you no? I'm just annoyed that in the name of "balance" more and more choices are being removed.
Maybe they should take it one further, in the name of balance. STR, VIT, DEX, INT, MND, have all been removed. All gear now carries one stat called "effectiveness" or EFF for short. Increases damage dealt by magic and physical, and also increases your health/mana pools.
Should probably also remove the combat combo system, it's too confusing for some players, and we want to make everything as equal as possible. So now you have one button to mash, and the game will automatically use the most appropriate ability for you.

I'm actually okay with this. Replace str/dex/int with attack power, considering that's all that it is anyway.

"In regards to tanks, we’ll be looking at each of the three jobs’ defense traits and making overall adjustments to their values"
i want to know whats this mean, anyway for now i love this changes![]()
I just hope they don't nerf WAR. I'd rather them buff the other two.
By 4.0 every class will have just one stat.
Even if this came to pass wars still bring too much utility to ever fall behind the other two tanks when it comes to being picked for progression parties

What I'm seeing is a buff to vit tanks, and a nerf to str tanks. I'm not seeing this as a buff to tanks in general.
There was pretty much no reason to wear vit before this patch once you had a certain amount of defense. Now gearing for vit will give some additional bonus, at the expense of str not being as useful. I wish I had the numbers to know how much, but all that I know is that vit tanks will now do some more damage, and str tanks will now do less damage.
Maybe str tanks will still do more damage than vit tanks. But no matter what, I'll be weaker than I am this patch. I can only hope that the damage weight of vit is high enough that I won't miss str tanking all that much.
