You have to be pretty quick on it's use and kind of preemptively know what you want to do but it does have uses for animation clipping/glitching of skills like Doton. You can cast Doton then Shukuchi this then procs the effects as if the mobs entered into the AoE on their own.

Again tho.. gotta be a little quick with the press or yeah it's a waste to click -> then aim the reticlue -> then skill use when you can likely run over and start hitting a mob outside of visual range.

Haymaker is so useless once you get out of the baby levels, I don't even bother keeping it on my hotbar. One Ilm Punch isn't much better. I also rarely touch Fist of Earth or Wind, but they at least have some use.

Haymaker 100% useless skill. The only skill I don't have on my bar . I at least use one ilm punch in PvP or on monsters that use stoneskin sometimes, but mostly its crap too.

I never ever using Dissipation (except pvp) even in thordan. Like, why sacrifice auto-regen by draining mp for bigger galvanize and aetherflow (and swiftcast too)?

Skills that I personally never use:

Freeze - Do I even need to explain this one?
Lethargy - a lot of high end mobs are immune to this anyway
Manawall - used to be cool. Now it's just a rubbish version of stoneskin.
Surecast - I get interrupted a grand total of never, and when there's even a small risk I'd use Swiftcast over this any day.
Stone II - caveat attached. It's still good for level capped stuff, otherwise Stone III surpasses it in every way.
Repose - Remember when sleep spells used to work? What happened after level 50?
Divine Veil - I'm sure this has a use. I'll be damned if I can figure out what that is though. It's like a rubbish version of galvanize.
Shukuchi - On paper, it's an awesome skill. In practice it's almost impossible to use quickly due to the AoE marker placement required.

As SMN, I rarely use Bind coz of the casting spell time. However it might be useful only when swiftcast is ready.

I'm not sure how it works on a keyboard, but on a controller you can pre-set the direction and distance you want from skills like Shukuchi that require an AoE marker to be set. I find Shukuchi to be a great skill and it works pretty well to get back into the action when you get knocked back, or need to get to a certain spot fast like Thordan. Yeah, you can do without it, but it's pretty stylish just teleporting around.

A lot of clunky-looking skills lose their clunk once you use them more often. Same goes with Aetherial Manipulation.I don't play BLM in Heavensward much, but I found a lot of cool uses for it back in level 50 content when I used to main BLM. You could Manawall in Titan EX so you did not have to move for the first Landslide, then AM to the party to stack the WotLs, completely negate the Leviathan body slams, use it on T7 to get around quicker if you got shrieked, and on Shiva to move around if the ground was frozen (Shukuchi also works great for this to get back into melee range^^).

A lot of "seemingly useless" skills can be used in pretty creative ways if you look hard enough, although others like Freeze, Hyoton, and One-ill Punch are ones that are almost useless unless you're in a PvP setting. To this day, the only use I found for One-Illm Punch in PvE was taking off the Stoneskin from the last boss in Haukke HM if you couldn't stun the eye fast enough, and also on that one guy from the Four Winds FATE. I see Divine Veil as a nice little extra thing you can do, it's more of a "why not?" skill to me. It doesn't hurt to use it during jumps in A1S or for Thordan's LB, or whenever the group is close together in A2S. I haven't gotten very far on A3S so I'm not sure of its use there, but it's OtGCD so I guess it doesn't hurt to throw it out here and there. I never really use Haymaker or Feint though.

It's clunkier on PC, from my understanding, especially if you don't regularly use the mouse much, though I've never done it on gamepad to be sure exactly of how it works. Everyone tells me the gamepad method is far superior, though.

I pretty much only use Shukuchi when I'm messing around or for very telegraphed movements, as trying to use it in a reactionary fashion is a pain due to needing to place the AoE marker. It's more problematic in a lot of situations where you need to use it to move quickly if you also need to move your camera at all, since they're both attached to the same input (the mouse).
