    Materia melding in 3.2

    In live letter it says:
It will not be possible to use advanced materia melding for STR, DEX, VIT, INT, MND, and PIE. You will be able to meld these stats into available materia slots.
Is that 'not' a typo? Based on wording I think it should say "now" I'm just wondering if we will meld primary stats or secondary stats.

I think they meant no forbidden melds with main stats, so if that is what they meant you can still meld them into open slots.

    Advanced melding = Overmelding.

You will only be able to put primary attributes into the guaranteed slots in 3.2.

I only read the summaries, and can't remember seeing anything new (technically, we've known about this for a month or two now, the letter was just more confirmation), but for crafted gear you will be able to put secondary stat (crit, det, acc, etc) and resistance materia into Overmelds

Raid gear will be unable to be overmelded entirely

I'm sorry, melding is something I never really cared about (outside of Relic 2.x). Overmelding, does that mean going over the stat cap on an item (i.e. adding more STR to a STR accessory, but not adding VIT to a STR accessory?

Most pieces of crafted gear have a number of default Materia slots (usually 2 for left side gear and 1 for right-side gear). "Overmelds" are additional materia slots beyond those default ones (up to a maximum of five on a given piece of gear), but melding to them has a chance of failure.

I don't get it? The only thing adding primary attributes to material adds is a gil sink. Unless they decide to finally become creative - double attack, -MDT, -PDT +Crit pot, it'll all be useless. They have an oppostunity for the game to return to how gearing was prior to 2.0. Where stats were interesting and had a purpose.

Warlords of Ishgard is a horrible expansion thus far.

This is so that a STR accessory with more attractive stats for a tank (Crit/Det/Acc) can forgo the fact that it has STR and meld all VIT to reach item cap. This adjustment takes it off the table.
