    Post-January 2013 – Version 2.0 client ???

Hey everyone, not sure if I read this right but it sounds like we will have to repurchase the game client when v2.0 is released? Is 2.0 suposed to be a "expansion pack" because thats not what I read?

If it is, I still think it would be a little ridiculous to have to pay for the game again because they messed up the first time and have to redevelop everything.

Granted I understand the game development industry is not a cheap one by any means but are we really expected to foot the bill for the mistakes / shortcuts taken? Let alone the decision to push in the subscription system so soon.

I understand we've all had lots of free time to play the game but does everyone actually believe it's worth paying for monthly before even seeing a glimpse of what the proposed 2.0 has to offer? Regardless of 2.0 does anyone actually feel like the game is worth paying for right now if they turned around and said any more patches for the next year will just be minor tweaks?

I'm not trying to start a flame war here but more of a discussion on these decisions and how many people agree with them.

Also, I'm referring to "・Post-January 2013 – Version 2.0 client (PC and PlayStation®3 system) goes on sale" which is located on the very last page of the "New FINAL FANTASY XIV Outline" PDF.

Here is whats going on. You currently have a copy of ffxiv, you will be getting the 2.0 upgrade for free. the part about the 2.0 client going on sale is for those that pick up the game after the jump. It would make no sense at that point to continue to distribute the current client via retail outlets.

and also, if you already have a game code you don't need to pay for the new client: will be freely distribuited for us who already purchased
