    The new engine is designed for new FFXIV, it will not work with the current FFXIV and none of the graphics would display properly

    They said all current resources will be imported into the new engine, so the display would likely be fine.

    BUT. They have stated the new engine/graphics require a new client and new server hardware that will be incompatible with the current game. so no dice until this time next year!
