Coils of Bahamut need extra motivation

Like topic says, right now it's very hard to find people interested in doing coils so you spend enormous amounts of time in df queues (even for practice purpose) or in pf (even when going unsyced)
Coils of Bahamut are very fun and interesting raids, I still prefer them much more to what we have now (Thordan, Alexander Savage). Honestly, i can't imagine this game story to be complete without going through them, as plot is really interesting and fills the gaps in regards of Eorzea past. Yet since all the rewards you can possibly obtain from there are long obsolete, people don't wanna go in there even unsynced. Right now my alt character has trouble going through them, since barely anything pops in DF and I wait in pf for someone to join for ages.
What I'm thinking, is that some kind of additional reward (maybe weekly or some essential stuff for new relic) would spur people in going there for achieving their goals while helping other to fulfill their own. Old content should never be forsaken, but in order for it to be alive you gotta motivate masses in doing them. I'm just after fun and thrills here, but many others will never do something old just for that, so they need some trinkets in addition to that

Same can be said about Crystal Tower raids. While I always hated them and been doing them as a weekly chore before HW, it's still unfair that it will be forsaken and forgotten by everyone, except newcomers, who will find themselves in trouble clearing this content

I hear you, but this is what happens to content that has become out of date. Still, not all of Coils is dead (still see T5, T9 and T13 on my server still getting pfs, but I don't know what it's like on your server), and there are still 1 or 2 odd farm groups that do fill up.

It would be easier to make the Crystal Towers be a roulette, perhaps with extremely generous Law/Eso if 60, and huge XP when 50-59, in order to get people going again. That would be a cheap and easy way of SE to make it "relevant" again. Coils, however, that's extremely difficult, as it was originally made for those who were truly hardcore (as in, even today people still failing T5), so it would be much more harder to get people back into Coils without making the player base extremely toxic. It's not the case of playerbase need extra motivation, it's that they don't want to waste a lot of their time on people from df who will just waste their time because some people don't wanna learn fight/wanna get carried/underperforms greatly/trolls and griefers, etc. So, it's best to just let Coils be optional, have the title be bragging rights and let glamour draw people in.

But, atm, we must also think of what's currently going on in FFXIV, that being the relic, so unless the Coils/CT helps do something for relic, you will have to wait a little bit longer.

Well like they said before, they wanted to make stuff different for various players. if you are casual - you go farm casual content to achieve your goals, if you are hardcore - you got to go for some extreme content. Yet instead the new relic for instance is a joke for hardcore people, nobody wants to run normal Alex x200 time, i'd prefer to run t9 synced without echo 50 times instead (or whatever extreme content available out there). yet now if i wanna relic - i gotta go and grind boring alexander normal mode or farm tomestones.
Yeah, you'll probably point out that there are Gordian weapons from Alexander 4 Savage that are way to go for hardcore players, but beware that stats on all weapons are different (and those going for extreme content should be wary of what they have equipped) an also that relic is something you invest in while knowing that few months later there will be a patch to upgrade it (unlike them gears from raids which you'll throw away and forget about later on)
It is due to the fact that in MMO games always have different classes of players you have to be flexible with how your content going to be played out. Since I have faith in FF14 development (because they've done a great job in the beginning at least) and because they actually listen to their players I open threads like that.

You don't have to farm Alexander 800 times, you don't have to do beast tribes, if you just want to, can do dailies, which ofc will be slow, but you will get it eventually. Relic atm isn't about having a "Now" weapon, it's more about an "investment in the future", as you will have a constantly evolving weapon that can be with you for the rest of expansion.

Atm, Ilv 210 weapons is nothing but bragging rights, you can do everything in the game with an ilv 200 weapon (which you get for free by doing the relic, I guess people just pissy about the last step which sours their mood about the previous steps). About the faith in the FF14 development team, I wouldn't have so much faith in them, considering the many times they dropped the ball (repeatedly) on housing, crafting, PLD and other such topics.

If you truly want to make people motivated to do CT/Coils, get them a reward to make up for all the potential pain that dfing will bring, and also try to get the Thordan weapon, much easier to learn the fight and win against him 10 times than burn yourself out on a massive grind.

Maybe future Relic quest will require us to kill x amount of mobs in T3.

The problem is, the HQ items are about 1mil each on my server. Seeing as we need 16 of them, I don't think a casual has 16mil gil lol...

Like i said, i'm fine with either. whether it be relic items of some sort or some completely different reward for doing coils. i only care about old content being back on it's feet tbh. It's not like i'm after a relic myself, i'm simply pointing out that things could've played different for people if they were given an option on which road to take (the hard one, but fast, or the easy one, but slow). Right now most of the people i know don't wanna have to do anything with relic, like you said, they will just eventually get it by doing content they usually do on a daily basis.
Could be that the problem also because i cannot think of any suitable reward for doing coils atm without breaking the balance. Though maybe something like an upgrade material for ESO gear for doing weekly would be a start i believe. Or, I just don't know when they plan on releasing new tomestones and gear, make this kind of reward when new upgradable gear will get released.

well i been on a market myself for quite some time and telling you from experience that in a few weeks these prices will drop as more people will be participating in sales. truth is, hardcore people have as much gil as casuals, it all depends on whether you mastered crafting\gathering and the market. many of my friends that are constantly doing raids haven't much gil themselves. they are lucky though that one of them guys has always some manufacturing ongoing so he always has gil and mats for food and pots =)

well that kind of attitude would be a start, though i am yet to see more groups than usual to do them 2.x content. could be that something will change in a week or so, but that remains to be seen.
