Tanks (The military kind, not the class/job kind)

I've been playing alot of Valkyrian Chronicles lately. Is there any evidence of the Allagans/Garleans having tanks? The Garleans have airships, and I think that airships are much more complex than tanks I would think. That would mean they must have some tanks, right?

Are the Garlean Vanguards and Armors considered tanks in Hydaelyn?

I would assume that the various Magitek armours replace tanks in their armies. Though if they wanted to I don't see why they couldn't build them.

is the closest this game gets to tanks, like SuperFlorinjin said, tanks in xiv are more akin to robotic constructs as is usually the case in final fantasy (look at the magitek technology from VI, the weird and wonderful tanks in VII, the spider tank in VIII). I'd love to see more conventional tanks though, as they are a thing in the series (motorball from VII comes close, BGH251F2 from VIII is also considered a military tank, and crawler from X is pretty much what you are looking for)

It's very likely that both the Allagans and Garleans have access to such constructs. We've only seen a very tiny portion of what they have at their disposal after all.

With the Allagan's having such advanced airship types, and such constructs as the Enforcement Droid and ADS, I doubt they'd even bother with a tank unless it doubled as something. Not saying there's no room, or need for it in the Empire, just why not use automata and droids while blowing stuff up from the air while the actual soldiers finish it all.

Though, to be fair, we have no idea how they waged war outside of speculation from bits and pieces, and we've likely only scratched the surface on their technology and war machines. The only comparable thing to them we know is the Garlean Empire, and they are considered way behind to Allag.

I'd imagine if they did have Tanks, they were quickly outdated and forgotten as flying magitek became more and more advanced.

The magitek claws help with construction (if they aren't killing people) for one thing.

I'm not sure they'd become outdated. There's going to be places where aerial combat is extremely difficult, after all.

I suspect that Garlemald mostly skipped tanks and went straight for walkers. While Garlemald surely can make tanks, walkers would offer generally a much higher level of mobility, particularly in the less developed and wild areas of Eorzea.

At the very least, if they do have them, we haven't seen them deployed in any offensive campaigns against Eorzea. Likewise, the Allag seem to have skipped tanks and simply either had hovering attack platforms or walking attack platforms. Or living weapons. The Allag liked their living weapons.

That's what the Dreadnaughts, robots and chimeras are for :P (and not just the "traditional" ones either ;P)

Aside from goblin walkers and other artillery constructs. I don't think we'll have an actual Tank unless they add Dwarves into the mix.
