When using this ability it says it succeeds and then nothing happens. a couple of times it's reset the progress bar like it's suppose to, but it did not give back the durability, so that would be why I assume it's broken.

When I first heard of the ability, I thought it was supposed to give back the durability. But perhaps it is supposed to be used for HQing materials like I said.

In which case you can still find a use for Clean Slate even though it doesn't reset durability. There are many items which you can craft which give you in excess of 80 or so durability even after spamming bold the whole way through the synth, using clean slate gives you a chance to further increase your quality and use the extra 80 durability you have left over.

It gives you the ability to make the most of your durability when synthing materials.

It is absolutely pointless for crafting gear though.

So I don't think it's broken because there is still a use for it. But as i said, the accompanied system messages and animations are broken.

It didn't say anything about giving you back durabilty.

Begin your current synthesis anew. Chance of failure increases with progress. Most effective for enhanced items.

Vague, yes, but begin synthesis anew doesn't necessarily mean to give back durability. Like gifthorse said, it's there to help increase Quality twice. Extremely necessary to make HQ Material because Material can not be touched up, and I have seen several high rank TAN HQ material using this (+3 Leather Strap etc.)
