I skipped all the other FFXIV events but I heard there were secret things you could do to get other rewards in the other events. Has anyone found any secret stuff for this event, or is it just the pumpkin hats?

Did you mean the Bombard event and the lodestone wallpaper creation?
I haven't found any secret (which wasn't really a well-kept secret) besides this one.

This one is actually "The Mithril Eye".

Also it's the first day of the event, why am I already seeing a couple people sell extra cookies at a few thousand gil per piece? Are you really desperate to look for gullible people to spend that much on something that isn't hard to get even if you don't claim the imps?

I got that one correct by selecting the mythril eye.
