Belgianrofl complained about the favoured system because he chose to play the wrong game. As did most people, i think. Wanting this game to be something it wasn't.
Favoured/Optimal system was amazing.
We never got to see if the optimal/favoured system would function economically with properly scaling stats and an informative interface, so your point is what was "rendered moot", not the system itself. Sorry.

your point is rendered moot by your apparent inability to check your attributes page to see the effect of the scaling pre-1.19
and frankly, the only "proper scaling stat" that wouldn't be harmful economically would be just as harsh as the required-lvl system, which leaves you with pretty much only aesthetics to argue for.
Wow, so you're saying it's possible to get all the same benefits of the restrictive system with an optimal system but with more aesthetic flexibility too. And you hate the system why?your point is rendered moot by your apparent inability to check your attributes page to see the effect of the scaling pre-1.19

I don't recall saying I hate the optimal system, so don't try putting words in my mouth, thank you very much.
I'm just calling it as I see it, which is the difference between the old and the new system.
I actually had to carry less gears around for my jobs with the optimal system, but it doesn't really affect me all that much as I use macros to switch jobs and gear at the same time.

What "rendered moot the existence of vast majority of the equipments" wasn't the optimal system per se, but the overall useleness of stats. Using a higher level weapon would clealy reduce your attack power on the stat screen, but have a far less noticeable effect on your actual damage.
With this whole issue already fixed, I, too, don't see any major reason to require level even on regular, craftable gear. People wouldn't use a R50 weapon a R1 because the R1 weapon would deal three times the damage.
