Bloated inventories as new recipes are added

    Hello dev reps

I would like to make a request to the dev team when they consider which materials to include in new recipes.

As the game continues to grow and new recipes are constantly being added, there tends to be a trend also to continually add more and more new synthesis ingredients to the game, which would be fine except that the new items have to be stored, and the current list of potential ingredients is already huge.. many of which are only used in a single recipe and then never again.

I would ask that the dev team take the current storage issues for serious crafters, who often have to have 4+ retainers purely for crafting materials, into consideration before adding huge amount of even more materials.

I understand that the difficulty rating of a synth is impacted by the ingredients included. Nevertheless, I feel it would be more beneficial for the dev team to revise what is currently available in game and make recipes from mostly (or purely) existing materials (like the did with recycling potash/coke/etc for airships).

There's some items, especially fishing, that have no use at all (beyond desynthesis for a short while). Why not use these in new recipes? Things like Eventide Jade too, no use beyond being a collectable of dubious purpose (nowhere near as good as times ones).

As DoL is my main thing in the game I definitely want to see more things to collect & to do so in interesting ways but the inventory problem is getting serious, even with the extra paid for retainers.

Even tide jade, and its botany counterpart were only included later, to offer a collectible gathering platform that is not tied to fairly tight timed window. While any gatherer who's figured the collectable system out can use the timed nodes as they please, the untimed ones offer a sort of practise ground for that particular interface where you can both, take your time to read the skill descriptions and try again in reasonably short while if you botch it some. With needing only 450 collectability for red scrips, they also give a chance for those new gatherers who can't afford the crafted equipment on MB to get their hand on red scrip parts, even if they are a slowly grind.

If it's a single use material, and you have little or no call to make the item, don't hoard the material. It's actually rather simple.

Outside of Culinarian, I'm able to hold all the necessary HW mats on one retainer, with some room for multiple stacks (things like Adamantite Ore and Aurum Regis Sand that get used a lot) and the occasional ARR material as well.

I'm always being asked by friends and FC members to make various things from leve items to GC hand ins, leveling gear, etc. There are a ton of mats I don't stock simply because its not worthwhile (especially if I can buy it easily from a vendor) but even then I still use up 4 retainers in crafting materials.

For someone who mostly crafts only high end items, I can see how what I am saying wouldn't apply as much but for those who are a major crafter in a moderately large FC with a lot of different crafting demands the range of items we need to keep stocked is much higher.

Edit: I understand people who DoL want new shinies to gather, and I would not want to deprive them of that, but I really would like to see them recycle more of existing gatherable materials in their recipes and cut down on the number of one-off materials you only ever use once (looking at you ALC and CUL especially)

In terms of other forms of bloating like "buy scrip tokens, to buy favor items, to gather other items to then trade in for even more items before you even start crafting anything with them"; why could they have not allowed us to have a cap of 2000 like esoterics and just have us spend scrips directly on favors (or some other system for gatherers that doesn't take up 12 slots of favor tokens) instead of having crappy space wasters like scrip tokens. Same for unidentifiables, precision alex items, etc, etc

Generally speaking, especially if it's got a rare or expensive material, I tell whoever wants something made what the materials required are, and let that person provide them. If it's something I've got plenty of on hand (like the most recent request, a level 58 Aiming ring) I don't mind just whipping it up based on what I've got on my retainers, but if it's something more exotic, they provide the mats or find another crafter.

If they want a set if items made for Leve hand ins, especially in bulk, their mats or nothing gets made.

I'm hoping higher tier materials become commercially available from NPCs - that would ease up on storage requirements greatly. I'm not too fussed about potential Gil costs - inventory space > spending RL money on retainers

The solution is to increase our free retainer slots by 1 for every expansion. That means give all Heavensward owners a 3rd, and include more when future expansions come out.

It's perfectly fair to include that in the price, especially considering how many new items an expansion adds.

Yup, they can't keep adding new items and new this and that without expanding inventory. How do they not realize this lol.
