    [Forum] Hiding blacklisted comments completely

Recently, I hit the point where I had to put a player on the ignore list for the first time, because every single post from him on this forum was either off-topic, insulting or just complete bullshit in my eyes

To my dismay I soon noticed that this player's posts weren't actually completely gone - they are still there, teasing you to read them!
It's basically a giant red on cyan message saying something along the lines of: "You chose to ignore this player. But look, he answered this topic, just click this little button to be able to see if maybe he finally redeemed himself, look, others are responding to him and quoting him, you REALLY should read this post he made!"

So I end up still reading what this person wrote, even though I don't want to.
That's the same as if ingame, everytime someone from your blacklist tried to send you a tell, you get a message saying "A player you chose to ignore has send you a message, click here to read it after all."
    No, just...no.
If I consider someone so horrible that I actively choose to ignore that person, I don't even want to know that he is writing me anything. I want to be blissfully unaware of that person's messages!

So can't we just leave out their posts completely, please?
Hide quotes from that player even in other people's posts, and just put the post before and after the ignored one right together as if nothing was in between?

You need to stop to be curious. It's just not read them.

How do I NOT read it when it's the only answer to my thread..

But you didn't actively choose to ignore him. You actively chose to read the messages he wrote. Is this really what people have come to? Unable to ignore another person without filters? I'd hate to see what you're like in real life where you can't block someone from speaking near you.

...because real life has blacklists, exactly
The point of this thread is to suggest to improve a feature that is already there and does not exist in real life. We already DO have an ignore list, so at least make it useful by actually hiding the presence and contributions of the people someone chose to filter out.

A comparison to rl doesn't really make sense because the whole system doesn't exist there. And additionally, different filters apply there. First, people say a lot less stupid or rude things because it's not anonym like on the internet, and second, yes, you can choose to single out someone who repeatedly acts in a problematic manner around you. You simply do not invite that person to parties, meet-ups and the like anymore or do not associate with him/her when you end up in the same place.

On the forums, you don't really have that choice - it's like you are having a conversation with your friends or some like-minded people about new recipes for cake and someone storms in to shout at you that he hates you all and that btw, he likes to talk about war and will proceed to do so now. In RL, someone with that kind of behaviour would get shunned quickly, but on the internet, that is not the case, because no matter how people feel about someone, they can keep posting as long as they do not actively break forum/SNS/game/etc. rules.
That's why systems like ignore and blacklists were invented. All I'm asking for is to improve these features to the current internet standard. Again, ingame blacklist just ignores people completely, while on the forums, you still get confronted with 1. their presence through the constant reminders that person X wrote something and 2. their actual messages in other people's quotes.

I see your point but also see the OPs point too. If the forum completely blanked the offending person, so you didn't even know they had posted, then there's no temptation to read the posts. You'd forget about their existence altogether.
