Just an idea, MCH get automaton for tanking purposes

Lots of people gonna hate this, but here goes. Give MCH a third mechanical pet... the automaton like pup had in XI. Keep it simple, weak or even no attack. Have it emit a pulse or something to generate emnity. Have it be a lil different than the turrets in that a small amount of the hate the mch generates also goes to the automaton, also it can move around. I suggested little or no damage bc even if MCH is a weak dps, it is still a dps, and I would want this so MCH could pseudo tank like SMN can with Titan. Slightly higher hp and def than turrets, and something like promote makes it switch between single target hate generation to aoe hate generation, and hypercharge makes it get slight defense boost and maybe slight regen or something. All other class/job tanking support abilities would be able to work on it, i.e. eye for an eye, cure, regen, protect, stoneskin, ninjas hate managing abilities, so on and so forth.

Not bad; it kinda parallels ideas I once shared for a "Knight" turret.

But before that, can we please have a REAL defensive buff and a self-heal of some sort?

when you say defensive buff are you referring to something like disassemble and rend mind? i ues those a lot but they are kinda weak. For the self heal maybe a way that your turret can give you a regen would be neat.

But the real question is....why? There's nothing in the game this would be useful for...it'll never reach close to SMNs level because of their greater control over Titan and abilities they get to assist him if need be.

I and quite a few of my friends really enjoy playing by our own rules and doing things other than the way they designed. We like trying stuff like running dungeons with a tank and using pld's or healers for dps. Things like that, so the why is because I think it would be fun to see if it could work. I say why not.

Why not: Dev resources are not infinite. Allocating them to a near useless ability for MCH is not a wise idea. No harm in playing any way you want - but it shouldn't be on the devs radar.

Aspects of the machinist needs to be tweaked. Mistimed wildfire being useless without a 14 second window to burst along with the plethora of mini cooldowns and procs to keep up with just to be on par with bard which is infinitely easier is an issue. Put in a detonate ability which lets you fire off wildfire early and lower the cooldown by 50% if detonated before 7 second mark and give machinist an ability that increases damage by a % on par with bard foe without causing the turret to lose its potency damage while channeling the debuff.. 5% magic or damage reduction also is a laughable raid cooldown.
