I suppose it depends. Blue Mages can equip both daggers and staves. Some monsters have a huge weakness to a specific weapon type so weapon skills might help out there. You unlock Red Mage by buying Curaga, Firaga, and Quaga.
You can unlock those spells after unlocking 4 star quests and learning the spells before them.
I hear staves are better for Red Mages because of their special skill, Chaincast, makes lowers your cast time and swords don't boost magic damage. :B
Good to hear rdm makes it, I hadn't really looked into the game until a week ago.
I bought FF Explorers a while ago for Japanese 3DS, but I can't read kanji so I got lost in the extensive customization system. Right out the gate you get a wide variety of ability options, so if that appeals to you then this is definitely a good game to check out. Reminds me a bit of Lord of Arcana type gameplay for the general quests. If you're looking for a portable RPG when you can't play ffxiv, then this is a really good option.
I'm sorry to have gotten your hopes up for that. >.< I did actually mean Online Playing, wondering if that was region locked. You had me excited for a second. But after testing it out, my Japanese Animal Crossing definitely does NOT work on my American New 3DS. So, I'm realizing you meant region locking as in being able to play ONLINE with people in different regions. The game carts are definitely locked to systems from their own region.
Guess I'll see later today if it is or not. (Once again, Online play, not the game itself.)
thats where the misunderstanding was. region locking doesnt involve who you play with, but what you play on. jp 3ds games dont work on na 3ds and vice versa.
Ahh tooo bad this isn't on mobile like Android and iOS. It looks like a very neat game, kinda reminds me of Crystal Chronicles
Doesn't help they don't have a demo on the 3ds store. Why have games stopped doing that? It's like they know the game isn't that good and want to lock you into the sale before you can find it out. xD
I could be wrong, but I think the Japanese demo was released about a week after the game came out in Japan. There definitely WAS a japanese demo, so hopefully they'll throw up an English one eventually.
I hope so, it surely has interest built for me I will say.
There's some gameplay from an american player. He uses a monk so I think its an ok vid to check out how the game works. It seems more like a phantasy star clone honestly but with a mmo twist (enemies can aoe damage you without a chance of avoiding it).
