I'll be getting it myself later tonight; I need another 3DS game that I can play during my downtime at work. Unfortunately, I'm the only person I know of that's getting the game, which means I'll be doing a lot of solo play even when I'm at home. Which is a bummer, as I have yet to see AI actually make intelligent decisions in any game I've ever played. The only game that I really thought the AI was great in was FFXII in the mid to late game; and that's simply because if they make a stupid decision, it was entirely your fault. You fully customized what they do and when. God, I loved that system.

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.

Looks fun, kind of salty my Amazon preorder decided to do the "please confirm your order yesterday to have it arrive today" thing even though the order looked fine yesterday...

Guess I'll just pick it up at Best Buy, Monster Hunter is my jam.

They do waste such good opportunities to do crossovers like with X/X-2's HD releases and Bravely Default/Second...
Granted, does Explorers have that much of an identity?
I'm still waiting for my copy to come in the mail. >w>

    Funny thing is

This new FF has 20 classes.
    Multiclassing
    Crossover abilities
A class designed to mix classes.

    FFXIV has 13 classes.
    No Multiclassing.
    VERY limited Crossover abilities.
    Against mixing/choice.

    Different games are Different?

The games don't cater to the same audience. I for one am glad that SquEnix puts out differing games.

https://youtu.be/EzkS0mt3B50 <- Very good EC video about the flaws of playing to the brand name.

The only downside to this, is I knew what the video was before even linking it...

((This means they are from the same BRAND name company. Just to clarify so you don't need to think too hard about it!))

They do cater to the same kind of audience. They are both multiplayer mostly 4 party action games based around a JRPG story, with picking your class and making your character. It has dodge, and combat where you need to pick your moves correctly. You have a number of abilities you use and you have to use them in the right moments, kind of like in FFXIV. You also have to dodge attacks and use your moves correctly, kind of like FFXIV.

I am greatly disappointed in your reply.

Do you understand the difference between a multiplayer game designed for 20-100 hours of gameplay, and an MMO like FFXIV? Issues such as balance and strong distinction between classes? More classes and more abilities to choose from means nothing when there is little distinction between the way you end up playing the game.

But go on, do tell us how amazing FFE is on a technical level, and how FFXIV devs should be ashamed of the lack of work they've put into their game.

The game was a monster hunter clone, which is basically the most generic formula out-of-touch companies currently follow when trying to make new game for handhelds. It was released in Japan over a year ago with little fanfare to appeal to Japanese children who, at this point, are far more aware of the monster hunter franchise than they are the Final Fantasy franchise. It failed in this goal, likely because of low production quality, lack of distinction from other monster hunter clones, and the fact that they are 5-6 years late in joining this fad.

World of Final Fantasy is a game I'm hopefully looking forward to. Similar concept of nostalgia exploitation, but with artwork and game concept that isn't an exact copy of someone else's work.

I thought all 3DS games had a region lock? The game has been out in Japan for over a year.

And for the majority of posters, isn't there a demo for this game on the store? The Japanese version had a demo at least. I played the demo long enough for my eyes to glaze over due to the total lack of distinction between this and the half dozen other monster hunter clones I've played.
