    Collision Detection Question

i like the fact that they made the basic 3 cities to where you couldn't get hung on fences while running, but i was wondering if it was an oversight that the fences in coerthas still hung you or if it was intentionally left that way. it's not a major issue, but was just more of a question since that's a more high level area if more of the high level areas would be more that way.

I noticed this. I don't like that there's no colision on the fences. They're fences, not illusionary items. They are made to block paths in some sense. I wish they'd put colision in for those that you currently pass right through.

Boy, it's a pain in the ass running into a collision-enabled little fence.

I don't mind if they are collision-enabled, as long as my char or chocobo couldn't easily just step over it. That's frustrating.

You may be a galka, but the lala's of hte world could not simply "step over" a fence. And it's not like they're tight spaces either, they're fairly wide. With all the walls, hills, cliffs, that you currently can't run over, it's not like you can point your character in a direction and keep running, you will hit lots of things that will stop you, so what's an additional little fence?

well my question was more of why they are all not either one way or another. i didn't mind them when you got stuck on them all, but got accustomed to not being get stuck on them. i was just wondering if they forgot to do part of the fences when they made the change or if it was done intentionally. it would seem to me if they wanted to remove it they would have done so on each of them in the game and not do it for some and not on others.

The wooden fences in La Noscea, for example, used to stop you in your track if you run into them. And if I remember correctly, they changed it so you can just run through fences (fences that are like the background object, as a part of the scenery, not thee sturdy and high fences around camp) around the same time or same patch where they made our characters to be able to climb (or actually, run) up and down small ledges/cliffs instead of getting stuck on every raised ground on the way.

I can't recall fences and how they look like in Coerthas though, haven't been there much.

the ones in coerthas along the road are the same as the fences along the road in limsa.

oh i agree with you i am not a fan of the running through fences myself, but was just wondering why you could some and not others. the inconsistency i was asking about. if they wanted to make it to where you could run through them it should be all of them along the road or else i'd be happy to just let them take it back to where it was where you couldn't run through any of them.
