Will there be *optional* name changes?

I've been trying to figure this out as it is basically determining whether or not I will pay SE for this game, but can't find any information anywhere. It said they are to add male Miqo'te, which I'm on the wagon of wanting since XI, and that they are later letting us redo our race/appearance so that isn't really a problem. But will be given the chance to alter our names as well then? A miqo'te with an elvaan name would just be silly...

As far as I know, there has been no official word as to whether or not we will be able to change our names. Word on the streets is that we will.

I also assume that we will be able to change our names when we have the one-time chance to change our race, gender, etc.

It wouldn't make much sense for them to let us change from male to female, but have to keep our masculine names, or vice versa.

Whether or not you play this game hinges on if you can rename your character?

From the context of what I read, I gather the entire character creation system is going to be redone, and when that happens we'll get to make our characters like new, except with all our progress saved.

If this is the case, I hope SE puts something in to prevent griefers from beating someone to the punch and stealing their name.
