I'm not a particularly violent person but the people who played this game only "because it might get better later" needed that punch.

    You especially.
    Himself at least?

Both of you bring up an interesting point however. I think this will divide the player-base into active and non playing players. The people who have been content with the quantity and quality of the patches will keep playing while the others will quit or wait for 2013 to bring "the better XIV" around.

Speak for yourself. You don't play.

The lag is still prevalent. I end up spamming actions as much as ever (even before the combat update) due to the server lag. The dye system ruined a lot of the game. The crafting dumb down oversimplified crafting. The materia system is just a grind with a Korean RNG crafting system tacked onto it at the end for kicks.

They've made some headway, but it isn't enough. "You sure as hell aren't a current player."

If you didn't like this game from the beginning why did you play it?
Maybe you should ask SE that. They are brutalizing a lot of the original game concepts (such as non-instanced world).

You are putting it too black and white. People will still have the option to come back for 1.21 (jobs), 1.22 and 1.23 (Imperial Stronghold)

Edit: After all the quitting I think 1.21 (jobs) will see the major boost in population and depending on implementation and content the largest retention of players.

I think they spent too much time trying to make a different game instead of improving the game they had.

They played the long game. And in the meantime lost the short game.

They said they could please current players while still making the game for 2013, but they can't. They haven't.

Okay, For one, Were are getting Thrusted into the New Servers come Feb 2012 I don't know where your getting this year from, but that's not whats in the PDF's ( Read the small print and you'll see it Clearly says Feb 2012, and that There new Servers are on the "FINAL" Stages.

#2 Spending a Time making a Different game, well when you look at it at their angle, the ones that made the game ( namely Tanaka) Know that the game is Broken and they needed to find a way to Resolve it. Well, a Ship that's already beginning to sink will have a hard time staying afloat, Patching it up over time ( depending on how small or big the hole is) will determine if it will still sink or stay afloat. in SE's Situation It's a VERY big hole. So, how does SE tackle this Problem? You guessed it Completely Overhaul EVERYTHING ( basically make a new Ship w/o holes). So the time invested into this Ver 2.0 is actually a wiser Idea then trying to patch up a big hole that never seems to be covered up.

#3 How do you know what's Pleasing the Crowd or not, Your User name is Lol Lol and your still lvl 1 Character Your just like the Warcraft Cataclysm on my Server Trolling the Server in Ul'dah. The only people that don't seem to be pleased is 15% of the Forums on here. If you played the game, along with the other people that are having a good time ( or else why would they play, if they aren't having fun.).

Thats all I have to say on this Matter.

So...what do you expect them to do about it?
They've already got all the updates and the whole Umbral event planned out. They can't just slap in the pieces of New Ezora, and certainly not before they're finished, as most of this content is probably being reworked for the new network setup. They have to take into account story, continuity, features already implemented all that sort of stuff they spent the last 10 months painstakingly planning so they could have a reboot proper.

The best thing you can do is...wait.

The game has never been "non-instanced".

I think Seif realises it's futile, but he is just expressing his dissatisfaction that it won't even be until 2013 that the game is good, and maybe even then it still won't be.

The plans are left relatively vague enough.

    Venting huh?
Well I suppose he's healthier doing it here instead of through a double barrel shotgun on the simple minded goons that walk the streets, so blissfully unaware of the decay that surrounds them. The decay they perpetuate. They corrosion that sustains them, the rot they ignore. Happy little fools living there happy little bubble lives.

    Yeah...

    someday...

I'll just pretend you didn't embarrass yourself by pretending you play this game and that I don't and focus on your next point. It's true the game was never entirely uninstanced, but one of FFXIV's original philosophies was to keep players playing in the same world. I think that's what an MMO should be about. It should be a virtual world, not just an entrace lobby, nor a substrate to connect players. And whether or not FFXIV has a history of acheiving this concept, it was certainly a base philosophy. Yoshi is straying too far from this original philosophy.

And if you hated this philosophy "then why did you play this game to begin with?"

Oh that's right, you don't play it.
