    Hardcore World

    I would like to see there be a world we could migrate too that was more difficult and strict with the game mechanics. Things like open world mobs can kill you but yield greater rewards. Dying has greater penalties so its not just easy to hp or get raised and keep chugging along. Enemies like A and S ranks and other "special" mobs (read NM's) can drop rare gear that you can only get through them. Re-balance the usefulness and need for all types of potions and medicines so that players need them to survive. All in all I LOVE XIV but I miss the challenges that XI presented with the danger of just getting from point A to point B. I LOVE XIV but it is a bit too easy to play. There is no risk. I just wish that there was more of a sense of real exploration and adventure in traveling though out the world, but right now its just tele here fly there tele somewhere else..... easy peasy. I don't want easy peasy.

    As much as I love this game and would love to see SE try something like this, they cater the more casual playbase and rewards them whilst only batting an eye lid at the hardcore and midcore players. Sorry to be a party pooper, but don't go getting your hopes up.

    SE added a dangerous and difficult world with Heavensward! You're not going to want to go into a Beastmen Stronghold without a party!

    I expect that we will see something along these lines when we get to the 4.0 open world. I am not surprised with how the 2.x areas are not being touched. With they way that the 3.x is being gated behind it, we will never see it changed.

    However, i am expecting that the 4.x content is going to be a rough open world content due to the level increase we are expecting, but also with what they did with the 3.x open world content. Everything is aggressive and at least, this cap increase, you can't get out of the range of any of the open world creature/monsters. Even running through Western Highlands as a level 60, the level 51 are still dumb enough to come after you.

    Yoshi said 3.0 open world would be tough, so tough in fact that we wouldn't dare venture inside a stronghold solo. Not like you'd want to go there anyways...except to /sundropdance an NPC for the worlds most thrilling dailies.

    I really miss solo instances related to quest that would take me a few tries to finish and some sense of danger in the world.
    But yeah, FFXIV is aimed on MMO newbies or casuals and these things are something people find annoying. Especially not being able to breeze trough story on first try.

    They tried to make the game more Hardcore with Alexander Savage which caused a bunch of people, hardcore and casual alike, to quit the game. As such, they'll probably never do anything hardcore again for a long time.
