More recently, Porter Moogles were added to the game, allowing a player to store large numbers of items from certain events in exchange for Storage Slips, which greatly relieves inventory strain.
Except, all those changes did not occur until the game was many years past its prime. From the beginning, inventory was an issue but still compared to FFXIV, was manageable because we could have alts.

And adding to that, FFXI has a ton of goodies now, but those were not around for the first 5-6 years. This game, FFXIV needs changes while it matters, not when no one is going to be around to care.

Every indication I can find online is that the Armor Depository NPCs were added in 2005. Most people would probably consider FFXI's prime starting at some point in Treasures of Aht Urhgan, which was not released until 2006.

Regardless, my point was that those systems either existed in FFXI before FFXIV released or were added shortly after 1.0's release. They were well-established by the time the 2.0 overhaul occurred, and it's not like inventory strain in MMOs was a new concept even then.

Those who not doing all job, glamour, favor, augmented gear and lucis can say whatever because the fact their inventory not bloated. But this is case about people who doing all of them. Please change your view for a second before white knight it.

It would already help a lot if we could put more stuff in the Armoire. Currently it holds only the level 50 AF gear and a few event glamour items. It can't even hold the upgraded dyable AF gear.

It really should be able to hold all the blues, at the very least. All the tomestone gear and a few other things. Possibly even extend it to all the untradables. Because as it is now it might as well not be there for all the difference it makes.

They should either fix the glamor system or gave us more inventory slots (Hell, even allowing us to use those character slots from standard subs as retainer slot would do)

But we all know we won't get any of those.

If you have all 24 jobs at 60, and having BASIC gear with them, you need at least 288 slots to depost their gear.
It isn't anywhere close to this in practice because of overlap. Sure, if every single thing you have is job specific, then it might get close to that, but I'm not anywhere near that point and won't be until at least another year's worth of red scrips, by that time red scrip gear won't even matter anymore anyway. And even then, like you said, the armoury chest holds pretty much all of it.

Basically there is no real way to get close to that 288 figure unless you specifically try for it / use outdated gear / etc.

I also have a feeling that if more classes get introduced, armoury chest space will get expanded, because I think a lot of people will complain if they aren't able to hold at least one primary weapon for each class (right now it is the one slot where everything is only job specific gear, other than offhands which most DoW/DoM don't even have one of, so having 24 things going in there right now is required if you actually want to be able to change to any job on the go).

What i would like to expand is how many items you can put up for sale, though. I'm constantly at a full 20/20..
Coming from a game where you could only list 7 items, per character, and only singles or full stacks... being able to list 40 things of any quantity you want up to a full stack is an enormous blessing. I feel like if that isn't enough for someone, they should reconsider what they sell that sells too slowly, and perhaps put more focus on stuff with a high turnover rate.

Fair enough, though there's very little stuff I put up that doesn't sell. It's more I just have an over-abundance of things to sell. Usually just 2 star mats and the like...since those can go for up to a million a piece, but that's understandable to be slow. >.>

It's more just as soon as something goes, I have something else to put up. But at least I never have a shortage of income this way, haha.

My 2 retainers are full my armory chest is full. My inventory is full. I don't think a extra monthly fee for inventory space, extra retainers is a good model. If it was a 1 time deal on the mog station I would pay it but I don't want to be paying it every month. Would like a in game solution for inventory that doesn't cost extra monthly fees please.

If you equip an item once you can use the appearance (style) of that item regardless of whether you have the item or if you tossed it. There are items in that game that you can purchase which are simply styles which are one time use items that add the style of that item to your available choices of styles for whichever armor slot that the style was for.

That's what we need. If DC Universe can do it, there's no reason that SE can't implement a similar system. I seriously feel that the dev team should actually play DCUO and check out their style (glamour) system, and if necessary contact their dev team if they need any assistance with how to implement a similar system in FFXIV.
Every MMORPG I have played, be it sub, b2p, or f2p, has such a wardrobe system. I thought it was pretty much standard. It blew my mind when I realized this game doesn't have similar, and what they do have is an absolute kludge. I feel they could, and should, do so much better.
